Reddish Vale again today, 29.6.23.

Nice day again today, sunny but not too hot, which is how I like it, we brits aren't used to the hot weather are we!.

This heron was quite active today on Sunnyside pond.

First time I've managed to get one on the wing.

Thought this mother was taking a chance taking her 3 babies so near the heron, but the heron mustn't have been hungry!.

Push off Squirrel Nutkin I was here first!.

Enjoying a Bourbon biscuit.

Little grebes were busy building a nest, but as always building it around a tree branch in the water, trouble is as soon as it gets windy the tree branch starts to disintegrate the nest!.

Cute but don't seem too bright.

Miss mandarin, Olivia Twist, came quite close, "Any more mate"

A nice morning out, followed by lovely Fish, Chips and peas at Morrisons.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt and a flat tyre!.

What do you call someone who dances on cars?
A Morris dancer.

You never learn to swear until you learn to drive.

Tuesday/Wednesday visit to the Vale, 27/28.6.23.

Had a visit to the vale on Tuesday and Wednesday this week and though it was threatening rain and spitting on and off on both days managed to get round without too much bother.

First to come and see me was Beaky the pigeon with the twisted beak, trouble is it won't leave you alone and wanted to sit on your arm to feed.

This family unit was in the dirty water just inside the gate, suppose mother thinks its safer there for her babies, they are only swimming in dirty water!, not like humans at the seaside swimming in human waste hey.

Young Goslings, they do grow up quickly, suppose they have to to survive!.

I'm sure this is the squirrel that shared my apple the other day!.

They love Bourbon biscuits.

The swan family are doing well and its the mother who is the more aggressive now, she is the one who cleared off last years 3 young after the Cob had failed to do it.

Mother is looking after her ducklings.

The pigeons getting too close.

Mandarin Duck.

Had a nice chat with two of my lady friends in the info centre, then it was back home.
The young sparrows are eating me out of house and home.
Little ball of fluff.

Waiting for parents to feed them.

Plenty of young starlings too.

Goldfinches.

Got a package from Amazon today, the box was taller than me!, as you can see, it was all box and packaging!. They may be using electric vans, but their packaging is a bit excessive.

My friends are away on another coach trip this week, so I've got a free week to please myself where I go for my dinners!.

Another way of looking at it!.

Sunday At Portland Basin Museum, 25.6.23.

Sunday saw me off to Portland Basin Museum again, mainly for lunch, only a light one as it was still quite warm and humid.

A one shot latte whilst waiting, it doesn't bother me waiting for my meal as it gives me time to check my crosswords on the phone, its not that I'm going anywhere is it!.

Can't understand people who go out for a meal and then get all worked up waiting for the meal if it's too long coming.
My roast ham sandwich was very nice and fresh and a reasonable price.

This nice coach turned up, must have been one of it's day trips, the people went on the boat trip up the canal and then into the cafĂ©, but the staff there coped very well.

The view from the outdoor seating, I think that's St Mark's church in the distance.

There is a river under that bridge, and whist having my meal watched as two Community bobbies came and then radioed for assistance as there was a man in the river!, two vans came with another four bobbies and they were still there two hours later.
turned out the man was a mental case and was paddling in the river which is about six inches deep!.
There was a chap Magnet fishing on that other bank too, seemed quite successful from the stuff he was putting in his bag!, he was gone before I could chat too him about his catch.
Magnet fishing is a large powerful magnet on the end of a rope which one throws into water and out comes all manner of things, check it out on Youtube!.
Get them on Amazon if you fancy it.

Then it was a leisurely stroll round the marina with the camera.
Are these saveable one might ask, still it keeps the volunteers happy with something to do and somewhere to go instead of mopping at home on their own.

Big water wheel.

One of the sculptures made out of all sorts of junk, makes you smile though.

Not a Banksy is it.

Some of the magnet fisherman's catch that wouldn't fit in his bag, a shovel, a crowbar and a bike

Nice Narra boats.

Butter making, yesteryear.

This is one for my mate Bob, as I know he made a ride on steam train years ago.

So another pleasant day out, though still muggy.

You know your getting old

When the names in your little black book are mostly doctors!.

You have a party and the neighbours don't even notice.

Your ears are hairier than your head.

You and your teeth no longer sleep together.

When the candles cost more than the cake.

Friday, 23.6.23.

OOPs forgot to post my trip to Reddish Vale park on Friday!.

It was quite quiet down the Vale on Friday, I thought with the weather so good there would have been a lot more there, there again perhaps some people weren't as daft as me and stayed indoors with the heat and humidity so bad!.

First to greet me were Roland and Roddy, cute aren't they but you wouldn't want them in your house would you!.

The preening must go on specially with all that thick algae in the water.

Miss mallard sheltering from the sun.

These babies were on the top mill pond, all feeding by themselves from my bag of seed

Another baby Coot who doesn't want to leave the home nest.

The swan family doing well, I spoke to a lady volunteer I know who was doing the rounds with a pair of pliers cutting the wire netting round the pond and told her about the stuff you can see here.

Whilst at the top mill pond, stopped to eat an apple and straight away there was a squirrel looking at me!.
I offered it a bite of my apple and he grabbed it and shot up a tree!.

I couldn't decide which picture I like best so here are all three.

You've got to like them they are so cute aren't they!.
So that was my visit done, as I was getting very hot and listless, so it was then a visit to Morrison's for dinner, then it was home and promptly feel asleep!, in a darkened room with my hayfever.

My neighbourhood cats that come round for the titbits I bring home from the dinner I can't manage on the day.

All in all a good day.

Wife to husband "One more word and I'm going back to mother"
Husband "TAXI"

He said they married "For better or worse"
He couldn't do better and she couldn't do worse!.

His wife was temperamental,
50% temper and 50% mental.

After his honeymoon he felt like a new man,
unfortunately so did his wife.
