The Past week, 21st -25th August.2021.

The past week has seen my staircase hand rail fitted and very nice it looks too, though not sure if its not too heavy looking?., still its been without for 50+years so perhaps will grow on me.

Needs sanding and staining yet to match the other side.

This week at Pear Mill café friend Peter got this Cow milk jug for a change, decorative but a terrible pourer!.

Yesterday Tuesday, went to Clarks shoe shop again and bought another pair of shoes (Black) and a nice pair of boots (Brown).

When I sat down to try on the selection the lady brought me, I realised that there was blood stains down my trousers, couldn't see where it was from, but I'd done a little job on the stairs before leaving home and had knocked my elbow and it was bleeding, goodness knows what she thought I was doing with blood on me, but never mentioned it, perhaps thought if she mentioned it I would kick off!.

She was quiet happy though when I bought these and perhaps happier too see the back of me!

Then it was off to the Ressers at Debdale to see what wildlife we could see.
This seems to be the boss Swan on the lower lake at the moment showing off how big he is!.

Free wheeling

Got himself a mate it seems.

There was a couple of these beautiful Great Crested Grebes there too.

These are my favourite water birds!, and got me started Twitching, or bird watching if you know it as that.

At one stage this one was doing a type of scooting along the water with its bottom well down in the water, not seen them doing that before.

And this is the only baby to be seen, quite different colours to mum and dad hey, must be camouflage whilst they are vulnerable to predators.

Saw a couple of these Grey Wagtails flitting at the waters edge where they seem to like best, perhaps its the best place to catch flying insects,

Yellow Wagtails are mostly all yellow and have a shorter tail to wag!, They are on my bucket list.

Back home we still have a load of baby Goldfinches, this is one of the latest brood.

This one is from an earlier brood and you can see its just starting to get its red face like its parents.

This one is an earlier one still.

This is one of the parents, very colourful aren't they.

Well that's it for another day, off to watch the Paralympics, what dedication they have, makes one ashamed  to complain of ones  aches and pains don't they.

Perhaps get on to the treadmill for a while later.

Frida from ABBA on the iPad makes it more interesting!.

I know its all rules down the pan as far as the virus rules for us, but it's still out there and its better to be safe than sorry.

Wet Wednesday, 18.8.21.

Today, has it was drizzling we went to The Snipe with a view to buying another camera but the Argos Superstore are not too Super when it comes to updating their on-line catalogue, not that they are the only ones that are guilty of this. I think they are quite happy to get you in store in case you might buy something else instead.

"Not available" said the assistant, "Are there any other stores with them in stock" said I, "No all our stores are out of them" said she, no good blaming her for my wasted journey was it, store management need to update their catalogue more often!.

Perhaps instead of hand sanitiser soon it will be one of these!.

After a bacon buttie at O'Neals Meals wagon it was off to get filled up with petrol, hasn't taken the petrol companies long to up the prices has it, wasn't that long ago they couldn't get riddle of the stuff!.
What are all the Petrol stations going to do when eventually all cars will be Electric?.
Back home as it was still drizzling, watched the Young birds on the feeders though the living room window.
Seems to have been a good year for Goldfinch babies.

These are the second brood I've noticed this year.

They seem to try other food, not like their parents who only seem to eat Sunflower hearts.
This green stuff isn't very nice.

This little guy is looking at the suet block!.

Plenty of Starling babies about too.

Starling and Sparrow babies.

Ah well, back to the jigsaw again, this one a bit tricky with all sorts of colours mixed up, still it will last me a bit longer perhaps.

Perhaps get my staircase rail fitted today?, then it will give me something to do staining it, will need a couple of coats!.
There is going to be a wooden rail on the top of the metal rail to match the other side.

At the side of the staircase is Pepe's rack for this stuff.

Fancy collars and spare lead.
Well that's another day older and hopefully wiser!.

Time is a great healer ; but a lousy beautician.

What's the difference between ignorance and apathy?
I don't know and I don't care!.

The older you get, the better you realise you were.

Sunday 15 August 2021

Quiet Sunday, 15.8.21

 Quiet Sunday,  15.8.21.

This week the lad and I went to the groomers in Oldham, we were a bit apprehensive as it was the new owner for the first time after eight years with the previous owner!.

But he was alright and there were only a few stray hairs around his toes she had missed, but he doesn't even like me touching his feet.

What!! Doesn't Every dog have their own chair?.

This weeks visit to Pear Mill Café

Sunday saw us at McDonalds for breakfast thinking we might miss the crowds but no such luck, was crowded out on the car park and had to park on the road.

On Debdale Lower Reservoir the Sea Cadets were out in their boats and seemed to be having a good time.

A young gull coming in to land a bit clumsily, not got its red legs yet.

Hyah there can I squeeze in!.

Pepe's here with some seed!.

Diver training, diving for seed.

Great Crested Grebe with a baby, at the extreme range of my camera so not a good picture.

Thought the Grebes hadn't done any breeding this year but must have been well hidden!.

Plenty of these about, as long as they stay on the ressers hey!.

A new poster been put up at the sailing club, sad but perhaps it will be seen by some youths and save someone's life.

Going to Lidl in Saturday, just noticed that there was a Clark's shoe shop at Crown Point North that I'd not noticed before, even though I'd been in the charity shop next door a few times, put it down to Old age hey!.

Got these at Lidl, same type as Mother in laws tongues but cylindrical!

Bought a nice pair of shoes, at Clark's hopefully will help with my Plantar Fasciitis problem, with a pair of Insoles from Amazon in as well, had no problems today, can't go cheap on shoes can you!.

Bought this Wax plant (Hoya) a few years ago and its been giving me these lovely flowers, about 8 or 10 a year ever since.

Its in a stone pot in gravel (Hydroponic) and you just have to keep the water level up to get these flowers that look like they've been made out of wax.

Doesn't live near the toaster by the way, that's just for the photo.

Finished another jigsaw yesterday, check out the tabs under the header picture!, started another charity shop one today.

Remember going here a few years ago with the family and strolling round the village and harbour, nice place!.

Well its not been a bad Sunday, spitting with rain but not much.

What's the definition of mixed emotions?, When you see your mother in law backing off a cliff in your new car.

My friend is engaged in a major custody battle.

his wife doesn't want him and his mother won't have him back!.

Two aerials met on a roof, fell in love and got married.

The ceremony was rubbish but the reception was brilliant!
