The lake today,22,4,2017.

The lake today was quite busy what with the sun out and the children back to school next week I would think.
Went looking for the baby Mallards I'd seen yesterday and expected to have to go up to the first bridge but to my surprise they appeared in front of me on the middle path and scampered into the big lake where I took these pictures!.

Stay away from my babies she is obviously saying!

Cute aren't they.

The Coots haven't got any young yet.

Where's he got too with that grub?.
Is that a Blue ribbon wrapper in the nest?.

About time you good for nothing!.

The Moscovy ducks doing well.

Plenty of colour on them close up/.

Moor hen here at Etherow not got a nest yet.

Queer tree, how is this staying up in the high winds we've had lately?.

Well, that's it for another day, hope the weather stays like this for a it longer

Amelia Rose spraying again,

Been doing a bit more spraying on the canal boat again, if you have been keeping up to date you will realise I'd only done the Hull painting up to now.
Did the Rear hatch cover in Green, here it is now against the plan sheet.

And back on the boat.

The superstructure as you saw last time was masked up, now its been sprayed Red,

After leaving for a few days to harden stripped off the masking,

Looking good hey!.

Today at the lake saw these beautiful Muscovy Ducks making their way back to the lake after a grazing in the sunny fields.
A year old now and some of the males are beginning to get their Red faces

Meanwhile back at the lake near the Cafe this Mandarin Duck couple were staking out their territory!.

Up near the first bridge over the Canal side spotted this family of Mallards.

Counted nine babies in all but couldn't get all the little blighters to stay in a group!.

Back home the garden is getting a bit of colour Now.
My Japanese Maple's are all getting colour now, this is just a couple of them, the Green Goddess is standing up to the weather as well.

That's all for now off to mask up the Red on the superstructure to spray the green next.

Look up the word Politics in the dictionary,
Its actually a combination of two words;
Poli which means many, and tic, which means bloodsuckers.
Enough said!

Did you hear they are putting a clock in the Leaning tower of Pisa?.
Because what's the good if you have the inclination and don't have the time?.

A man goes to his GP and say's "Doctor I think I'm a Moth".
"You don't need a doctor, you need a psychologist"
"I know" say's the man "But I was passing and your light was on".

Easter Sunday,2017.

Woke up today to bright sunshine and thought the weather forecast I'd seen the day before couldn't have been more wrong, but by the time I'd showered and shaved it became apparent that the forecast was right after all, it was a light drizzle so decided to go out anyway!.
We went to Reddish Vale as there was a Easter Do on there.

The band setting up

What a pity the weather was the usual bank holiday kind!.

The volunteers

Setting up the Easter trail for the children.

The rear of the visitor centre, on our walk to the fields.

This is at the entrance to the playing fields.

Signs round the Vale.

Then on to the lakes to see the wildlife.

The baby Moorhens are doing well.

The Swans nesting.

Having a snack of grass cuttings.

The Grebes still on the nest can't see any babies yet!.

Dad, very attentive.

The Mandarins all very aggressive looking for mates.

This Mallard seems to have quite a following.

This Coot has quite a big nest Hey!.

Resting before the crowds arrive.

Then it was home to dry out!.

Pity about the weather for the event!, hope it didn't stop too many turning out!.

This week,10.4.2017.

This week at the lake its been a bit hectic, with the school holidays but not too bad if you get there early, suppose the little darlings don't get up too early in the holidays, and why should they!.

Wednesday it was off early to the Vets for Pepe's  Flea & worming tablet, then a dash up to Oldham for the lad's wash and trim, I know its a long way to go for that but he gets a good going over and he's not stressed going there which is the main thing isn't it!

Who's a pretty boy then??.

It's a good morning out for me as well, as I get to go to a local cafe that's near to without worrying if he's safe in the car, and the cafe is one half takeaway, sandwiches, pies and beautiful cakes made on the premises and the other half is a nice clean cafe with good prices.

Brought home a nice apple pie for after tea with some custard on.

I also like to have a scout round the charity shop for any books or other items
On the day I got a couple of books I'd not read and this nice plaque for 50p, You've got to buy that at that price haven't you?, bargain of the week!

Will look nice on my kitchen wall!.

Remember I mentioned that Velda had an Eddie Stobart truck named after her, well I can track her on my Iphone and today she was at Trafford Park near to where I live and here she is on the way home down the M6.

Good in't!.
..............................................................................
This reminds me of my favourite film, can you guess what?,
Its The Body Guard!, but he's falling asleep on the job by the look of it!.

Not Velda, but a nice message from Eddie Stobart's.
