Custodian of the Duck

A few weeks ago I had an email from Lesley Harling, to the effect that the Duck had come home to roost after being with her daughter for a couple of years.
Will you put the "Duck" on the "For Sale" section on the Club web site said Lesley, so I did and after 48hrs and no takers, I jumped in and bought it myself and was glad there had been no takers as I had admired Graham's duck for years!.
My wife Velda and I had spent many happy hours sailing with Graham and Lesley at the lake and I'd always thought he was one of the most talented modellers in the club, so I'm now the proud Custodian of the Duck!. After studying all the paperwork within the box, I finally took the duck to the lake this past Saturday and found it hard to guide  at first and operate the other levers and switches so finished up with him disappearing under the bridge and into the big lake, Oh No thought I, but managed to get him back, What  a Plonker!, so then set him on a circular course round and round whilst I took a video of him and tried out all the controls!.
Then had a fall of soot!!, Why don't I take him to Coniston Pool and sail him there, so packed up and off Pepe and I went to the Pool.

The following video taken by me with Mate Bob sailing the duck.

There you go then!, see you at the lake when I've go my head round the controls!.

This weeks bargain of the week is this nice big picture, purchased from a charity shop whilst waiting for Pepe to be washed and trimmed.

Signed print of a famous British artist John Seerey Lester now living in Florida.
This signed  print would cost you $289, got mine in a beautiful frame for £40, what a good buy!.

Doesn't every dog have their own garden chair?.

On the gardening front, my miniature cactus garden I planted is doing well, as with all cactus you have to control the urge to water too much

Growing but not too much.

Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day!.

Out with Marjorie!, 11th & 13th August 2105

Out with Marjorie!, 11th & 13th August 2105.

Hi Folks, this past Tuesday we went to Reddish Vale country park for a change and after a bit of lunch at the Cafe there had a nice walk round and viewed the horses in the riding  stables.

Always nice to see aren't they!.

Riding stable block

Marjorie at the Reddish Vale Tea rooms, plenty of children about with the school holidays, there is some advantages with being deaf!, you can turn your hearing aid off, must be getting old if i'm thinking like this.

Horses grazing in the fields.

As well as the Cafe there is this nice refurbished Visitors centre which does Tea/Coffee  and soft drinks at very reasonabell prices

The swan here seem to have done better than at Etherow with four cygnets all doing well

Still nesting perhaps for a second brood?.

Novel way to reinforce the lake side !

Marjorie's splendid balcony display

Bee taking advantage of all her flowers

I think our friend Young Ryan would like to get stuck into this pile of logs with his chainsaw!.

We decided to go to Frodsham again after a nice visit the other week and apart from a huge traffic jam on the M56 which is not the norm we arrived safe and sound which is the main thing isn't it, we had a trip to the Model shop, "Steve Webb's" all nice chaps to serve you and I managed to get the item I wanted, A Mini Micro fully working Yacht with 2.4 gig transmitter on the right of the picture there

For the technically minded of you out there here are the spec's

Saw one of these on our lake the other day with a members wife sailing it and it does everything a bigger boat does only in miniature, and I thought I'm having one of those.
You have to think of the weight when you're getting older, and not many older than I these days, plus you can almost get this boat in your glove compartment so no problems transporting it.

Well thats all for now folks, have to get Pepe's dinner before he starts having a go at my leg, he's not very happy about staying in today but the rain has been bouncing down most of the day and he's not too happy about that either!.

Mummy Mummy! "Can I lick the bowl"?, "No flush it the same as everyone else".

At the park this weekend.

In the previous post, showed A white Goose guardian and a young Canada goose that was quite small, well here they are again!.

Grown quite a bit now hasn't he!

Keep your distance, Pepe!!

Today's lesson with the Coots seemed to be diving for food.

Down we go!!.

Was that alright Mum?.

On the roof opposite my back garden, saw this Heron weighing up the neighbours fish pond.

Nice birds, but I suppose the neighbour doesn't think so hey!.

Whilst round the park the last couple of days spotted this cheeky Robin,

Glad they choose these birds for our national bird, no contest for me!.

Been to the lake today, but the rain was so heavy that the drains couldn't take all the water on the car park.

Where does the lake start and the car park finish?

Bought this nice pot at the Gordon Rigg garden centre last week, thought it was just right for one of my Mother-in-laws tongues!.

A couple of Sunday's ago at Son, John's for Sunday dinner, Pepe got another admirer, A nice chap who is a Mormon Missionary from Uganda, his companion from the Gilbert Islands wasn't as keen, there again he didn't get a chance to get to know him as Pepe has a mind of his own!.
