Welcome to my new Blog

Welcome to my Blog.
My Blog is mostly about my hobbies, ie Model boats, Cross Stitch, Gardening, Days out and about, Lego Technics and Photography you might recognize the hat rather than me. My models and other hobbies can be found in the Tabs at the top below the header picture.
There will also be entries of days out with my camera, weather permitting of course.

Jigsaw Puzzles done.

Jigsaw puzzles I've done since giving up boat modelling.
Can't say I've run out of patience though as you can see after seeing this first puzzle!.
Got this one from a Charity shop a few years ago but never got round to doing it, just finished it and the couple of quid I gave for it was well worth it as it seemed to take forever!.

Not quite Impossible!, 550 pcs
Gone back to a charity shop.

This one was a present off my mate Bob, and was finished and pasted on a board and taken to the Daisy Nook cafe for their retro look.

A Fathers day present off son John, Padstow Harbour as he knew me and his Mum had been there on a caravan holiday.
Off to the charity shop as well.  1,000 pcs

Got this one off friend Mary today, out of her back bedroom I believe, one of those buy's that seemed alright at the time.
1000 pieces, but  98 x 33.5cm. quite unusual in that its got a lot of Gold and Silver colours in it!.
Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Another one completed but with a twist, although the pieces were in a sealed bag as you can see on the right hand side there was a piece over!, never had that in a jigsaw before, perhaps that's why they say it was a special edition!.
Hope someone didn't get one with a piece missing, I never found out where it could have gone, so a complete different piece  but same colours and theme as the rest of the puzzle.

The Harbour, Polperro. from a charity shop,1,000 pcs.
Done back to the charity shop for them to sell again!

.............................................................................
This one was a nice bright colourful one even though the prices on the plants are a bit out of date these days.

Good company for puzzles, pieces fit together really well.

...............................................................................

Bought this one from a charity shop at £3.99!.
Remember Wife Velda used to buy these boxed sets years ago and used to wait for the next one to come out to see what the new theme was!.

Opened the box and found that the Clown fish puzzle was missing!, still a bargain though, (6,000 Pcs) as the other puzzles were still in the original sealed bags!, there was even a big poster in the box.

This is now on the wall opposite my work bench, good idea by this company.

Made a start on one of the smaller ones, the frog, looks a bit hard this one with all the yellow.
500 Pcs.

Done!.

Next one.. 500 Pcs.

As you can see, not quite the same as the picture on the box, still it made it a bit more interesting.

.................................................................................
Next one. 500 Pcs.

My work station for boat building is now my Puzzle Corner with a nice Mahogany edging strip round to save any pieces falling off and going missing.

Another one done.

.....................................................................................
Next one on the board. 500 Pcs.

........................................................................................
This one looks a bit of a challenge, not much difference with colours!.

This was a hard one, with all the dark similar colours!. 500 Pc's.

...............................................................................
This next one is a bit more colourful, 750 Pcs.

Another one from the box finished

..................................................................................................................
750 Pc's

A lot of background similar colours on this one.
Didn't do any more of the ones in this boxed collection as too boring!

...................................................................................................................
A bit more life in this puzzle

Some unusual shapes in this one.

There was a piece missing in this one but it was marked on the box, so wasn't keep looking for it.
Missing piece just above the baby owls!.
Still had my monies worth from the charity shop where its going back too.

...................................................................................................................
1000 pieces, lot of sky in this one!

The sky wasn't the problem it was the trees!.

.............................................................

Bought this little boxed one from a charity shop, only 100 pieces but will be a bit of a challenge like the first one in this section and only a couple of quid!.

Easy Peasey.

......................................................................................................................
Bit more conventional.

.............................................................................

Borrowed this one from friend Mary, gone back to her now

This was a hard one!.

.........................................................................................................
Another unusual one.

Base board and some of the unusual pieces.

 This one was awkward!.

....................................................................................................

Few pieces missing on this one, but you can expect that now and again from a Charity shop can't you, still get your moneys worth.

......................................................................................

Nice colourful one this.

......................................................................
A lot of thatch on this one

Four sky pieces missing, but you have to expect that when you buy from the charity shop

Strangely, the gray piece I thought was missing on the side of the cottage I'd found in a previous puzzle and had put it on the window sill.
Perhaps these 4 sky bits will turn up in another one!.

.................................................................................

Nice puzzle, unfortunately there was a piece missing, still had my money out of it!

.............................................................................................

.................................................................................................

Bit of a hard one this, or perhaps it was just me not concentrating enough.

..........................................................................................

An aaah factor one this

.....................................................................................................................

There was 3 pieces missing on this one, but was still a bargain from the Charity shop and will be going back there!.
A lot of trees on the right there, a bit of a challenge, still I only do a few pieces as I'm passing the room.

.................................................................................

One piece of this one missing, but still a good puzzle and worth the couple of quid it cost

................................................................................................

This was a nice colourful one to do.

.....................................................................................................

Friend Jean bought me this one from a charity shop, think she is testing me with all that Sea!

Wasn't so bad really, all the sea had Longitude and Latitude lines on.
Pity there was three pieces missing still it made it more of a challenge.

..................................................................................
Love canal boats and waterways.

Surprise, Surprise!, no missing pieces.
Nice fitting pieces.

............................................................................................

Another nice colourful puzzle, and no missing pieces, back off to the charity shop!.

..............................................................................
Large pieces!.

Some unusual pieces in this one.

..................................................................................
This seems to be more of the usual pieces.

..........................................................................................................

For the dog lovers.

.................................................................................................................
Quite dark but was nice to do.

.....................................................................................................
Art deco!

Like this one so much bought some Puzzle fixative from Amazon and fixed it to a board, just have to find a frame in the charity shop and then it will make a nice picture, so it won't be going back to the charity shop unfortunately.
More colourful in the flesh.

..........................................................................

Nice pleasant one that brought back plenty of memories.

.......................................................................................
Watch this space.
This one could take some time.

This one was really hard but finally finished it, as described above double sided and turned 90 degrees, but with a bit of thinking outside the box did the wolves on both sides and turn one over!, which left two corners of trees left to do. sneaky hey!!.

..........................................................

This one was a bargain 2 x 1000.
The cake shop.

First one done, on to the next one, the fish shop

The second one in the box, this WH Smith puzzle wasn't a very good fitting one.

................................................................................
Was given this one from a friend, large pieces but still enjoyable and informative.

Large, so had to find a bigger area for it, see ruler at the bottom for scale.

......................................................................

...............................................................................................................
Only a small box as you can see by the tea spoon.

Not quite impossible!.

................................................................................................

As you can see this one was only 500 Large pieces, a nice easy one so no pressure.

................................................................................

Transport for a change.
.................................................................................

This one is a National Trust Puzzle

Must have cost quite a lot in one of their shops.
I got it for £2 in a charity shop, not realising how difficult it was to do, one of my hardest, due to pale colours and a lot of Black coloured birds!.

....................................................................

A nice easy one for a change.

.........................................................................................

Four for the price of one here.

The Market Place.

The Post Office.

Visiting the Blacksmith.

Visiting the farm.

That's the last of the four Postman puzzles, very nice too
............................................................................................

Nice small one for a change.

.................................................................................

A nice round one.

Unfortunately there was a piece missing in this one, right in the middle, still nice one to do though!.

.......................................................................
Another animal lovers one.

Only a 500 one but nice all the same.

...........................................................................

One for the Cat lovers.

Nice easy one this, only 500 Extra large pieces.
....................................................................

Another large piece, easy one.

My back is feeling the strain of leaning over the table, so ordered a bar stool.
......................................................................................
Very colourful this one.

..........................................................................

Quite hard this one with similar colours plus 2 pieces missing

..............................................................................
On to this one!

This one was quite hard, though it didn't look it at first, didn't help with that piece that was over on the right there. I must have picked that piece up a hundred times trying to fit it in somewhere.

................................................................................

Good job I've got a few puzzles in stock with the government lock down!.

Everyone smiling in this picture, wish it was the same out doors at the moment!.

..................................................................................
Nice subject but a bit difficult with all the trees.

.......................................................................
Good one this one.

........................................................................................

Bit of a dark one this

A challenge though.

................................................................................................
If you are a regular follower you might think I've done this one before, but the more observant will see that this is the night version and it lights up and changes colours.

...............................................................................................

Picturesque is right.

My mates Bob & Joyce bought me this one last year and kept putting it off as it looked difficult, but managed it in the end, surprising what lock down will do for you!.

...................................................................................

Had this one for years, decided to have another go at it.
Nice colourful one, and good make"!.

Another Ravensburger puzzle, good quality.

Another Nice Ravensburger puzzle!.

Good quality puzzle bought from Amazon as charity shops closed

A Chinese one this, different shaped pieces, only fault the thickness of the board, once got the outside done it was easier.
Still good value for money and nice scenery.

The jigsaw I bought on Amazon a while back, says Impossible Puzzle but not quite as you can see I've done it, though I must admit it was quite hard and took me longer than usual!

Only recognise the characters that have been in the latest  films though.

Bank holiday Monday 2021 project, heavy rain most of the day!.
400 piece panoramic!.

...................................................

One from the charity shop, going back there now.

........................................

Chinese one from Amazon, hard one this

....................................................................................
Charity shops open again, got this one!.

.................................................................................

One from the charity shop, will be going back there at weekend.

Nice puzzle , plenty of items in it.

...............................................

........................................................

...................................................................................

Another charity one, going back there now.

Memories of yesteryear.

.......................................................................
Another memories one.

Not that we could afford anything then.

.................................................................

Another 1,000 piece one

Took me over a week to do this one.

...........................................................................

Bargain with these two from the charity shop £2,

.............................................................................................
This one brought back happy memories from when we used to be motorcyclists and used to go to Matlock Baths on a Sunday (with our Honda Goldwing with sidecar and camping trailer) when all the motorcyclists used to meet and admire each others bikes bikes.

Don't see any Cable cars in this picture though

.............................................................................

This one was my Fathers day present from Son John.

Quite a lot of sky but there again makes it more interesting.

............................................................................

Disney's The Villains.

Tricky with all the small areas of colour.

.......................................................................

.......................................................................................

Got this one from a lady in the park.

The picture isn't the one on the box!

.....................................................................

This one pasted on to Pepe's gate.

...................................................................................................

Just been given a beautiful canal picture painted by my mate Bob and by chance was in the middle of doing this puzzle.

..........................................................................

When I bought this one from Amazon it said a wooden one, I thought perhaps it was the Chinese
translation, but it was true it was printed on 1mm ply and was quite hard to push the pieces together.

Finished but it would be a major job to break it up, so think I was glue it and frame it, nice puzzle to do.

............................................................................

....................................................................

.................................................................

Another Chinese one from Amazon.
Comes with a nice large poster in the box too.

.......................................................................

I had a Lazy Sunday doing this one.

................................................................

Shepherds Lane.

................................................................

....................................................

Been here when with the family on holiday to St Andrews.
Can't see its changed much over the years.

........................................................

We have all seen this one on the Hovis advert.

......................................................................

Been here, Nice place.

........................................................

Tricky this one with all this houses.

..................................................

................................................................

..................................................................

........................................................................

............................................

Girls day out!

Made in China, good fitting , but box half as big as European puzzles and some pieces bent getting them into box, so whilst the Chinese are trying to cut down on card perhaps, it seems to be at the detriment of the pieces.

........................................................................

............................................................

.................................................................

........................................................

Front of the box.

Back of the Box!.

No wonder I was having problems at first.
........................................................................

This was one of the hardest puzzles I've done, a lot of the pieces were the same shape and colour.

.............................................................................

................................................

Some unusual shaped pieces in this one.

...................................................

...........................................................................
Part Christmas Present, from a friend?.

.......................................................................,.............................................

Chinese one again

Nice quality.

Even get a nice full size poster too.

....................................................................

Another Chinese one, good value for money and well fitting pieces.

..............................................

Another Chinese one.

....................................................
Birthday present from youngest Grand daughter.

Hard with all those branches and sky.

....................................................................................

Birthday present from Son, John.

Part of a double set.

....................................l..................

The other puzzle in the double pack mentioned above.

Another hard one with all those skyscrapers.

..................................................

This one was a birthday present from a friend, as you can see various sizes and subjects.

First one, a bit easier this one, 100 pieces.

Number 2, 100 pieces.

Number 3, 300 pieces.

No 4, cute one.

No 5,  460 pieces.

No 6, 500 pieces, hard one this with a lot of the pieces very close colours.

........................................

Bought this one from a charity shop round the corner, spend a lot of time repairing the split pieces, not the best quality but a nice picture, very colourful.

............................................................

..........................................................

Difficult one this with all those coloured flower.
My own fault, has I chose it myself from a charity shop.

....................................................

..............................

..............................................

Some unusual pieces in this One!.

..................................................

Piece missing from the middle, still it was a nice puzzle to do and at £2 was still worth it.

.......................................................................

...........................................................

..............................................

Nice one but tricky.

..................................................

This one was a real bargain at £2 for 4x1000 puzzles

Spring.
Shame there is a piece missing in the bottom right corner there.

Summer.
Would you believe it, found the missing piece from the previous puzzle in with this one, the last person to own it must have found the piece and put it back in the wrong packet!.

Autumn.

Winter.
Finished them all, a real bargain that!.
............................................................................

A couple of pieces missing out of this one, still a bargain and quite hard with a lot of dark leaves.

................................................

.......................................................

Nice one, learned the names of the flowers too.

.....................................................................
A bit of the mixed bag in this one.

Plenty of wildlife in this one though.

...................................................................................

Quite tricky this one with all those black cats.

...................................................................................

Good job this Chinese one had letters on the back or it would have been almost impossible.

Still it was a challenge.

...................................................................

This one was a challenge with all those bits of colour.

.....................................................................

Difficult as it was a painting so no defined lines, stillit's a challenge isn't it.

..............................................................................

When I bought this one I thought I knew the picture, then it dawned on me my son had bought me it a while back.
What a Gorrp, still it was a challenging one and the charity shop will get it back to sell again.

..................................................................

Another nice one from the charity shop, going back there.

.........................................

Cute one for dog lovers, didn't take long this one.
Will take a while to get it back in the box as the pieces are so tight.

......................

............................

Nice challenge!.

................................................................................

This is not the full picture on the box,

But a nice poster inside with full picture.

Not often you get an extra piece in the box!, made it difficult if as most puzzler's you start with the outside pieces, as couldn't get the correct size, then realized the extra piece!

Might put this one in a frame, watch this space.

Made a mount in card and painted it, think it came out rather well.

......................................................
Nice outdoor picture

.........................................

.............................................................

One for all the dog lovers.

................................

Another nice one with lots of colour.

..........................................................................
A nice one from the charity shop, pity there is a piece missing, makes it more of a challenge though!.

.................................
Bought on offer from Amazon.

Lots of odd shapes in this one.

.............................................................

Look at these prices!!.
Friend bought this one for me from a charity shop

...................................

Nice one with a biking theme.

....................................................................

...................................................................

Nice Chinese one.

..............................................................................

.............................

Nice one of my two favourite hobbies.
Took a picture of finished puzzle and printed it out as even though there was a pen with it, didn't want to chance spoiling the original puzzle.

So puzzle stayed as good as new

..........................................................................

Nice colourful one.

.....................................................

So get though Jigsaws with this weather at the moment.

........................................................................................
Like these oldie worldie ones.

...........................................
Found this one in Lidl at the last shopping trip.

First one of the 500 pieces

This one had a piece missing, never been in the box!.

Off to the charity shop with this one now, marked the box for the missing piece.
................................................................
Challenging with all those colours.
Charity shop one.
....................................................................

...............................................................................................................

...........................................................................

............................................................................

...................................................

..................................................

........................

.............................................

.......................................
Looks a bit like Reddish Vale

...........................................................

...........................................

..........................................................

...........................................

....................................

Watch this space for the next one.
