Welcome to my new Blog

Welcome to my Blog.
My Blog is mostly about my hobbies, ie Model boats, Cross Stitch, Gardening, Days out and about, Lego Technics and Photography you might recognize the hat rather than me. My models and other hobbies can be found in the Tabs at the top below the header picture.
There will also be entries of days out with my camera, weather permitting of course.

Wyeforce Tug

Wyeforce Harbour and Berthing tug.

My wife wanted to start sailing so we had a look at the Model Slipway on-line site and she straight away picked out the Wyeforce Harbour and Berthing tug.

It has two motors and as it was only my first electric build I was a bit worried at first to say the least !.

The Wyeforce Tug is a kit supplied by Model Slipway see Here they are sited in Barnsley. we went to the factory after making an appointment and got a nice friendly welcome and when I said I'd never put in a prop shaft before Laurie took a hull off the shelf and gave me instructions how to go about it , you can't get better service than that .

Considering this was my first big build with motors fitted it went together surprisingly well, though it was mainly down to the excellent instructions and scale plans, and the thought that Model slipway was only a phone call away, which wasn't necessary by the way
I deviated from the plans on a couple of places ie The bulwarks were flat strips and I found a website Here that had rounded ones which I thought were a lot better and I also lengthened the centre post of the towing gear down to the bottom of the boat after strengthening it

Towing gear

There were a few extras added for cosmetic reasons really.

Lockers behind wheelhouse and  one on the deck which hides the on/off switch, she's lost the keys though!
And not forgetting the crew Tom,Gloria,Dick,Harry,The Captain and Fred,
Doesn't look the same without figures does it !

Power supply is a 6v 10amh lead acid battery and the two motors are a MFA 500s geared 1 to 2.5 supplied by Model Slipway at the time of purchasing the kit.
Wifey can sail all afternoon on this set up
The control system is an AR 6200..2.4 gig Spectrum receiver and two M'tronic's 15amp speed controllers and this is controlled by a DX6i transmitter.
Will turn in its own length using the two motors without the rudders!
All in all a great kit and as it was only my first electric build I was very pleased with myself and promptly got my self back to Barnsley for another kit.
