Kids off school, Oct 2015.

Kids off school, Oct 2015.

With Halloween nearly here the Cafe has been done up with all the cobwebs and spiders and all the other things you image scary to the kids.

Outside, the colours of the trees are beautiful at this time of year aren't they.

 Pepe, lost amongst the leaves

A bit of sailing on the Monday with my Fiesta,

With Pepe guarding the bag.

A little 12 weeks old puppy at the Cafe, first day out!, must all seem a bit strange.

Today Tuesday (27th) after lunch at the lake went over to Lyme Park with the Bike in the car with a view to a ride round in the sunshine.
This was the scene that met me, the car park full to bursting, the Cafe full and crowds of people everywhere, kids off school and sunshine, what was I expecting!!.

So it was back to the Lake and another drink there!.

Imponderables
When you open a bag of cotton balls, is the one on top meant to be thrown away?.

If your born again, do you have two belly buttons?.

If you choke a Smurf, what colour does it turn?.

Why do we leave cars worth thousands of pounds on the drive and put our junk in the garage?.

That's all for now folks!.

The Bike!.

The Bike!, October 2015.

The other week I went mad and bought a folding bike!, not for serious riding you understand, just so I could put it in the car and go out into the country ie, Derbyshire and park up and ride on the trails that were created by Mr Beeching closing all the small railway lines that he thought weren't making money. At least something good came out of it with some nice cycling paths in the country!.
Today after a visit to the Breakfast club at Etherow, Pepe and I after a sausage buttie went over to Lyme Park and as we are members of the National Trust didn't have to pay to get in!, which was a bonus.
Here is the Bike in Folded Mode, folds quite small really!, a bit like origami until you get used to the folding bit!.

Fits in my small car without even folding down the rear seats!.

Here we are outside the Cafe at Lyme Park, friend asked what the small wheels were on the rear carrier, when folded the bike rests on the rear carrier, which means that it can be wheeled about folded and so the weight of the bike isn't really of any concern.

Riding round the park met up with a friend from Etherow who took our picture.

Pepe seems to like the experience, I had to keep stopping to let people make a fuss of him!, considering I've not been on a bike for **** years it was quite an experience in itself, so the frequent stop's were a blessing really, but we got the hang of it eventually and discretion being the better part of valour didn't overdo it on the first day!

So it was off back to Etherow via the long pathway out of Lyme Park.
Met some new friends there again so it was worth the effort to go back there, and the drinks are cheaper than the National Trust CafĂ©'s!!.

We have a nice little "Gadwall" duck visitor at Etherow and I was told about it by my friend of many years at the lake, Ryan, a young lad we met many years ago when he started as a volunteer and is now quite a knowledgeable lad on all things in the park.
Nice to see this little duck, very similar to a Female mallard, only a lot smaller without the blue stripe on its flank.

A mutant goose.

Talking of birds here is the joke of the post!
That's me on the far right!.

One of Bob's photoshop pix's

Been doing a bit of painting on the garden ornaments, the varnish on my dolphins on the garage had got damp behind so I did a bit of rubbing down and then painting with acrylic paint and then some clear Gloss Rustoleum from Homebase to seal it in, looks a lot better and should last for a few more years now.

 That's all for now folks.

A Visit to Reddish Vale.

A Visit to Reddish Vale.

Pepe and I had a visit to Reddish Vale the other day as a change from Etherow where we seem to be a bit of a fixture these days!.
Pepe seems to like a change too

This nice changing coloured tree in the car park is a nice welcoming sight as you enter the information centre car park.

Tea & Coffee 60p!.

General views of the lake area

The swans with their ugly ducklings are all doing well.

Back at Etherow there has been a new addition on the village green!.
The old carved owl which rotted away has been replaced with this nice new one.
There was a little ceremony has it was unveiled but I was passing when it was being bolted down so whipped back and got these pictures.
Nice isn't it, must be nice to be able to do something like this hey.

As you will have noticed the title picture at the top has been changed to mirror the changing trees at this time of year!.

What was the best thing before sliced bread?

Custer's last words at the Little Big Horn.
"I can't understand these Indians a few moments ago they were singing and dancing"

Emperor Nero was watching the Christians being thrown to the lions, turned to his wife and say's
"Do you know what I like about this sport"
"No pitch invasions!"

Why do Giraffes have such long necks?
Is it because their feet smell!.

Sister's visit!.

Sister's visit!.

Sister Barbara's visit with her hubby Bryan went off nicely,
After a trip to see Australia V Fiji at the millennium stadium in Cardiff where Australia won to add to their enjoyment, I met them at Stockport station on the Thursday and we had a nice meal in the evening at The Windmilll pub in Denton with Marjorie joining us.

On the Friday we had a trip to show them the new alterations at Man City's ground then a trip up to Son John's for the afternoon and a beautiful hot pot meal then a walk round the countryside of Springhead in Oldham.
After the meal the two boyfriends of my Granddaughters came and give us an impromptu song.
Rachel and Mum

Babs, Bryan and Ruthie

Jazz and Toby.

Saturday we were at the Lake (Etherow) and after a bit of lunch went to the Hide in the woods as Babs and Bryan have been keen Twitchers for years.

We were lucky enough to see a bank Vole

And all sorts of other birds Babs and Bryan were not used to seeing, their garden is full of parrots and stuff like that, Sickening isn't it!, we have pidgins and sparrows!.

Along with King Tut, the Egyptian goose

 And all his friends!.

Then Saturday Night it was a nice meal in The Stable Gate at Denton, one of my favourite places!

Sunday they were off to Bryan's relatives, enjoyed my time with them, even if it was a short visit.

My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance.

Help keep the kitchen clean, Eat out!.

That's all folks.
