Last Post of 2021.

Well this is the last post of 2021, apart from the virus it's not been to bad for us, as it's not too different from other years, as people on their own will understand!.

Had plenty of eats out with my friends at our favourite watering hole, Pear Mill Cafe where we are always received with open arms.

Today had our last visit this year to the Ressers, which is only a stones throw away for us, though we go in the car to go though the drive though at McDonalds which I think is safer than going inside with all the people sat in there, and there are still people stupid enough not to have had their jabs yet, even though the news says that most people in hospital are the ones unvaccinated!.

Quite pleasant on the Ressers today , though still muddy underfoot with all the rain we have had recently, so had to carry Pepe though the wet patches.

There were a pair of Young Great Crested Grebes there today

The young Swan is looking better each day.

A couple of resident Swans.

This pair of Little Grebes, just that bit too far away to catch them, they are quite shy.

The coots are quite aggressive though.

Had a visit from my Great Grandson from Edinburgh this past week has his parents have been doing the rounds of their parents.

Luckily he likes dogs and I think Pepe liked him!.

I think he would have taken Pepe home, but settled for a banana instead!.

This is the present Project with the Jigsaws, it's going to take some time this one

Got a few pieces together but that took a few hours!, and realised there are no straight sides!.

Got the first of my Christmas presents from friend Jean today, a years subscription to this magazine, bought a copy last month after seeing a copy of her's and really enjoyed it. All the old films and gossip about the old stars.

Another project on at the moment is a new fob for my keyring, which wife Velda bought me in Blackpool about 25 years ago whilst we were there Line dancing.
The leather finally gave up the ghost so I have saved the eagle and got out some Plastacard and stuck him onto the fob shape with gorilla glue
Not finished yet but looking not too bad up to now.

Had some Glue on my fingers so couldn't get into my phone until I'd sandpapered my fingers!. What a gorrp!.

Bought another pair of shoes from Clark's yesterday, Black, same as the brown ones I bought a couple of weeks ago, but as all the ladies will tell you, You can't have too many shoes, specially good ones!.
All the cheap ones gone into the charity bin outside the supermarket this morning!

Well that's it for another year who would have thought I would see so many!.

Happy New Year, to all our readers.

Christmas 2021.

Well Boris didn't cancel Christmas this year but I don't think it will get him off the hook!.

Been to the Supermarket today (Tuesday) and the headlines in the national newspapers are "Where is Boris?" as he's been quiet lately  with a lot of his members revolting!. I had a lovely Christmas Dinner at Son's up in Oldham and got there and back safely with not much traffic on the roads.

Nice spread with my favourites at Christmas, Parsnips!.

Reduced family this year with other Grandchildren going to their  respective wives/husbands families.

Bit different on Boxing day with Beans on toast with beetroot!.

Pepe got a new bed for Christmas, moveabell to get nearer the fire.

Been over to the Ressers but its quite muddy over there with all the rain we have been having, and cold with it!.

Still the birds appreciated the food as not many people out feeding them.

These Canadian geese quite happy, can't say the same for those at Etherow Country park where they have got Avian flu I've heard.

Meanwhile back home the Blackbirds are getting stuck into the berries on my bushes.

Finished this jigsaw this week.

Got plenty to go at now as I got two big ones from the family, two I bought from Amazon and this one from a friend?.

Is it a friend who gives you this?, still I've managed more difficult ones in the past!.

So that's another Christmas gone, my 38rd, alright so I'm dyslectic!.

Quiet Sunday In,19.12.21.

Though the weather wasn't too bad, decided to play it safe and stay indoors rather than venture out with all the last minute shoppers without masks!.

We have been out the past week but only locally round the ressers to feed the wildlife and see if there are any winter visitors arrived, but nothing seen so far!.

Are we going round the Ressers Dad?.

Met a few people and had a few words just in case they were lonely and needed someone to talk to, you never know you could be the one to make someone's day.

The juvenile swan is still there and appreciated our seeds.

We'd had a trip to the Snipe Retail park and had a bacon buttie first,
Now that's what I called a bacon buttie.

One of our friends at Pear Mill this week took this picture of Pepe and I as we had just arrived there from the Dog groomers in Oldham, so Pepe was nice and fluffy and smelled lovely!.

Whilst at Pear Mill this week also saw the Peregrine Falcons, all fluffed up against the cold.

Think this is one of this years youngsters.

Was told by one of the staff there, that one of the youngsters from this year that had gone missing was found this week at the bottom of the inside of the big chimney, so wouldn't have been able to fly out, what a shame.

Finished the jigsaw mentioned in the last post, and no wonder I couldn't find all the edge pieces when one saw what they were like once found!.

Wouldn't think this was a side piece would you, still it was a good puzzle and well worth the £2, I paid for it in the charity shop.

Will try for another post before the New Year.

Sunday 12 December 2021

Not much outside this week,12.12.21.

Not been out much this week though the dog walkers group we are in went to the Windmill for their festive menu, we have to sit in the vault with the dogs but it's no problem and we have the bar in there to ourselves.

Nice Festive Carvery and a Hugh Apple Pie and custard to follow, drinks as well, so left there well stuffed.

Pepe well wrapped up!.

The step up I made him and he decides to sleep on it!.

At the Pear Mill Emporium on this weeks visit, saw this book rack with Ladybird books and strangely enough I quite clearly remember learning to read from one of them, that was a lot of years ago,
must have made a big impression on me as I've never stopped!.

Something there for you ladies, look at all these sparkly tops and at reasonable prices too.

Not sure about this one though, the shoes that go with it are a bit pointy!.

Our Salt and Pepper pots.

The jigsaw I'm doing this week is quite good but the pieces are very small, need your glasses on!.

This is one of the pieces, and that's my little finger for scale.

This week also fitted my new handlebar grips on my Brompton Bike, the new ones are the lighter ones, a better quality all together, made by Brooks the same people that make the saddles.

Also fitted these easy wheels, which are a bit larger and roll easier when the bikes folded up and on its stand.

Before you all ask, No!, I've not been out on the bike yet, too wet and windy at the moment, but when I do, it will  be the best dressed bike in the area.
