Weekend and Monday down at Debdale Park and Gorton Lower Reservoirs.
It was a lot quieter on the reservoir than in the park, so we went there at the weekend and the sailing cub was in action, which brought back happy memories of my times there doing windsurfing and canoeing lessons!, once I'd finished doing shift work, and could attend all the classes.
These must be a new thing, inflatable dinghies don't remember those, still times change and many new inventions come in all the time don't they. |
You will pass these stones as well.
No worries about social distancing round the reservoir, hardly anyone there only the serious runners!.
The leaves on the trees are starting to change colour now and I think its a nice time of year with all the colours about, trouble is it doesn't last long, at least you will be able to see the birds a bit better without the leaves specially the Ring Necked Parakeets.
A black backed gull and a juvenile.
The swans seem to be doing well here and as the lake is so large there doesn't seem to be any territorial problems.
I'm on top of the world Ma!, remember Jimmy Cagney saying that!.
A squadron of Canadian geese coming in to land, you can see the colours of the trees as well.
Spotted a couple of Little Grebes today, very shy little birds, usually only see their fluffy bums!.
But with a bit of patience caught this one from the front.
Thought they were starting to have a scrap then realised this one was a young coot come to see what the little grebes were catching.
Last but not least was this male Tufted duck with his bright yellow eyes shining in the sunshine.
Well, that's it for another day down the reservoir.
Did notice in the car park that the older people were using their feet to open the swing gate into the park, but the younger people were mostly using their hands!, so the amount of people passing though that gate only needs one of them to have the virus and it's passed on to everyone, no wonder the count is going up again.
The pubs remain open, though closing early at ten, still plenty of time to get rat legged and social distancing to go out of the window again.

She confused her Valium with her birth control pills!, she now has 14 kids, but doesn't really care!.
Why are there no recreational drugs in suppository form?.
How do Eskimos stop their teeth from freezing?, they grit their teeth.
Its the way I tell em!.
