Cotebrook Shire Horse centre

On Friday took Marjorie to the Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre, picked a good day for it as the weather was just right, sunny with a slight breeze so it wasn't too hot.
A nice pleasant drive through the cheshire countryside soon brought us to the centre, which is in Tarporley.
This is the welcoming sight as you drive up to the centre with plenty of free parking and even a countryside pub next door if you require refreshment of the liquid kind!.
Though the entrance there you find the reception area with a nice shop and Cafe, the entrance fee receipt is clipped to a card which allows you free admission for the next month as many times as you want from the date of your receipt on that day, can't be bad not many places you get that is there.
First shire we saw was this impressive fellow "Edward" and quite nice for the children to get up close and stroke him, the chap there ready to answer all your questions

Then a chance to groom this little chap.

This little guy is only six weeks old!, the mare brought here for stud purposes.

and another little lady

Group in the shade, out in the fields which you can wander through at your leisure

All very friendly, though there are a couple that can bite, but these are plainly signed not to touch, these are mostly stood back from the fence anyway so not much danger there.

some of the different types on show.

Its all too much this being admired!.

You've heard the expression "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours"

Hello Deer dear.

A nice roll in the grass

All kinds of beautiful fowl

An otter pool

Very nice I'd say!.

And the winner is!.

Marjorie got some nice tail feathers from his guy for her flower arranging.

And some more little beauties

Just for the picture!.

Barns full of birds as well.

Bunnies too, should say dozens really.

The ugly duckling

These are pretty ugly too, but there again there are people who love pigs, so must cater for everyone.

They even have piglet racing as you can see they are all numbered.

Lastly another look at one of the lovely little foals!.
So all in all a nice day out with a stop at the cafe for soup and a nice sandwich and a most welcome drink, that didn't stop us stopping at the "Fox and Barrel" pub on the way home that had a great beer garden in the back which was a riot of colour with dozens of hanging baskets all round.

How are men like dogs about housework?
They run and hid every time they see the vacuum cleaner.

What do you give the man who has everything?
Penicillin!.

A couple decided to smuggle a skunk into the country.
When they got near to the customs desk the creature tried to struggle out of the suitcase.
"Quick" said the wife to the husband "Stuff it down your pants" "What about the smell" he said
"Well if it dies, it dies she said.

Its the way I tell em!.

Thats all folks

Over the weekend

The weekend started off very well with a trip out on Friday with friend Marjorie to Bakewell which was nice and sunny, the conversation was a recap of our past's over the years, our families and our hobbies and a million and one things one get's up to in this crazy world we live in these days.
It was a nice drive there though the Derbyshire landscape, then a stroll round Bakewell centre and finally a spot of lunch in the Cafe with grape vines hanging round the courtyard, very picturesque as you can see here.
Nice bit of shade for Pepe too
Off to do some more exploring of the shops.

A bit of old Bakewell for Bob.

View from the new car park bridge, towards the old stone bridge.

Then in the river we saw these big trout, you can scale how big they are against the duck!.

This beautiful fish was about 14" long, can just see the colours on it, they were grabbing the bread thrown before the ducks.

In the small park that usually has the well dressing event, it wasn't the right time for it, perhaps another trip is called for, this didn't retract from the beautiful flowers in there and has you can see that English Rose loves dogs as well.
Then it was over to Matlock Bath and a drink in a beer garden on the way, purely to cool down of course.
A nice day out was had by all!.
Saturday saw Pepe and I at Etherow but didn't stay long as it was too hot for Pepe, did call at Bob's on the way home to see how his present project the "Starlet" was getting on, having trouble with it as is usually the case when buying other peoples unfinished projects, I'm sure he will sort it out with his experience, the cold can of Boddington's was nice as well.

Now Sunday was a day to remember as Pepe and I set off for Colwyn Bay Model Boat Regatta, what a day that was, absolutely great and there were quite a few of our club friends there too
Better still why not look on my other blog for the days events and pictures
Well there you have it a nice weekend had by all I hope, and many more to come.

Two old men sat in the garden of a nursing home, when a seagull flying overhead pooped on the bald head of one of them.
The nurse in attendance said urgently "Don't worry I'll run and get some toilet paper"
As she hurried off one old man turned to the other and said "Is she crazy or what?, by the time she gets back with the toilet paper that bird will be miles away!.

That's all folks

Sunday outing July 2013

On Sunday went to the lake and had a sail of my MicroMagic yacht, I think some of the newer members had been thinking I'd not got any boats and just came down to the lake for the company, which would still be nice really!, still had a nice sail and then it was off to John's for Sunday dinner.
After a nice cooked meal, which is good for me as I'm the type that if the microwave broke I'd starve until I could get to the shops for another one!.
After dinner John and I took the dogs to Churchill playing fields at Uppermill, showing me where the dog Groomers were for my visit today, for Pepe not me I hasten to add.
Whilst we were at the playing fields there was a duck race going on in the stream at the side, run by the Rotary Club.
Which was a temptation for Jessie, as I'm sure if she hadn't been on her lead at that time she would had been in after the ducks.
There wasn't much current, hence the chap in the waders shooing them along.
Then it was on to the fields for Jessie and Pepe, which they both enjoyed until Jessie bowled Pepe over and that was the end of that, he wasn't having any of that, the indignity of it!.

Then on the other side of the field there arrived a giant poodle that John had met earlier in the day
Can I play with you?.

And surprise, surprise the lady owner recognized Pepe, and me because of "THE HAT" and said I know you you're a mate of my Mum and Dad and it dawned on me it was Bob and Joyce's Daughter Jenny, what a small world, as I've said before!.

Well that's all for now must get off with Pepe for his wash and Trim, be like my haircut I suppose One cutting and two bagging!!.

Update
Well the dog groomer did a nice job on my boy!, and I will definitely be going back there again,

Pepe was quite happy on the floor with the resident dog there when I got back to pick him up.
Who's a pretty boy then!.

Whilst pepe was being washed and groomed I was off to the garden centre in Greenfield and saw a nice bush rose there that I thought would be nice in my garden and as it was called "Sweet Memories" thought it was quite apt.

Nice hey!.

And a close up of one of the blooms.

A gardener is a bloke who calls a spade a spade; until he falls over one.

Sid's speciality was growing vegetables and he eventually won the Nobel Peas prize, for being outstanding in his field.

What do you call a man who has lost 90% of his brain.
A Widower!!.

His hair was neatly departed in the middle.
...........................................................................

Well that's it for today.

New camera again!?.

Hi Folks,
during the past week Pepe and I have been out and about with the new camera and the only fault I find at the moment is the battery doesn't seem big enough to cope with the amount of technology built into the camera, still I can always buy a spare battery can't I.
I will bore you for a minute with some of the zoom shots I've taken just to try it out.
The Cafe at the lake,as you can see it's just before the weather turned nice

and here are the notices on the Cafe wall!.

And the visitors center.
and without a tripod!.
When we were at Velda's tree planting last weekend took this long shot and then zoomed in on the distant pathway

This is what you see then!.

Whilst on about Velda's tree planting, on Friday Daughter-in-law Joanne took G/Daughter Rachel to Dovestones to walk Jessie and visited the tree has Rachel hadn't been able to come on the day of the planting.

Nice to see someone visiting already, also during the week got this Certificate from the organisation, though we were told the entry in the book of remembrance mentioned in it won't be there for a few weeks.

Back to the camera, Oh no do I hear you groan!.
It has a built in system of filters and you can chose them for different situations to make your pictures look different.

Normal

Green filter, the rest Black and White

Red filter etc.
Not something you would use all the time but a nice feature isn't it.

On Friday we went to Buxton with a friend and whilst in the park there came across the two Irish Wolfhounds Bob and I had seen at an earlier visit to the toy fair there.

Rather feed and clean up after Pepe than these two wouldn't you!.

This monument to this guy is nice isn't it.

Must have been a very important man to have something like this dedicated to him.

So all in all it was a nice day out with some nice company for the day, and who know's might be repeated at a later date, and loves dogs as you can seen from the picture with the wolfhounds.
..............................................................................
Couple of bird pix's thought you were getting away without them did you!.

Baby goose doing well

Leading the family down the waterfall

Going to the hide at the top of the park noticed this tree, my imagination had me seeing "Lord of the rings" and this tree about to uproot itself and walk off after someone, well I do have a funny sense of humour.

Nice late Sunday dinner at John's yesterday has it was too hot to eat earlier, but very nice when we did.
Rachel's boyfriend Toby was there and heard he is going on a mission for the church in September, as John did whilst courting Joanne!.

.....................................................................................
An elderly spinster approached the pearly gates and knocked.
Who is it?, asked St peter.
"It is I" came the reply.
Oh No muttered St Peter "Not another school teacher".

If you feel strongly about graffiti, sign a partition.

Lockjaw means never having to say you're sorry.
.............................................................................
That's all for now folks.
