Where did September go, 30.9.21.

So this is the end of another September, seen a lot of them myself!.

Not much done this past week, had a visit to Ashton Moss nature centre after a bacon Butte on Wednesday and saw a lot of Sparrows on the feeders.

Only problem the droppings were bringing these!.

Roland rat looking cute here but you wouldn't want them near your home would you.

On the pond there were the usual Swans and Canadian geese.

The boss.

Saw him flying, pity he was flying away from me, but it gives you an idea of the wing span of these magnificent birds.

Finally finished the new handrail on my staircase, not quite the same colour as the other side, but that was put in ten years ago when we thought my wife was coming home, sadly that wasn't the case.

Finished this jigsaw this week as well, gives your age away when you realise you remember most of them.

Makes one wonder which of this items are still British owned, and if they are the same ingredients as then!.

As the weather has turned rough, finished this jigsaw too.

The heads of my baby Goldfinches are looking a bit scruffy at the moment as they are changing to red faces with their moult.

Still beautiful little birds though.

At Pear Mill Café this week this was our table decoration, not only ours though, same on all the tables!.

Friends had their tea in this beautiful teapot this week, and they just had to turn it over to see if it was a genuine Wedgewood and it was!.

So another September gone!, not been too bad except for the change in the weather.
My third corvid jab tomorrow, hope it is going to be a bit easier than my flu jab, still glad to go even so!.

Unlocked, 21.9.21.

Now we are Unlocked and everyone dashing to the seaside and beaches, the local parks are a bit less crowded thank goodness.

Its getting a bit like autumn now though with all the leaves dropping, but it does look nice though doesn't it.

Me and the Lad!.

Nice moon picture the last few nights.

The boats were out on the Ressers at weekend with the cadets from HMS Trafalgar having great fun rowing round the lake, not quite nuclear but one never knows one of these could end up in a nuclear submarine one day!.

Been to Pear Mill café for our regular visit with friends yesterday.
Table decoration.

Today at the Ressers there was a family of Little Grebes out fishing, they are quite shy and you don't see them very often and always just out of range!.

The great crested Grebes were out today as well

My Baby Goldfinches are doing well and as you can see these youngsters are just starting to get their face faces

The one on the right here is a little younger and still no sign of red on its face yet.

Another youngster!, but at least they are eating on their own now, giving their parents a welcome rest after a busy season with three broods this year.

Pleased to report that my homemade foot rocker is working out well and my Planter Fasciitis is getting better everyday, might paint it now!.

The Children are all getting jabbed to go back to school and some Government minister is checking out all the things the EU made us do ie Measurements in Mm and Cms, weights in Grams  and Kilos and everyone is now used to these things and who buys pounds of apples these days they are mostly pre packed anyway.
The children are going to have a problems catching up without learning obsolete things, thank goodness we never went into the EURO hey.
Going back to Pounds, shillings and pence what a nightmare for kids!.

A couple of birds sat on a perch and one said to the other, "Can you smell fish"?.

We are born Naked, wet and hungry, Then things get worse!.

How about the cannibal who ate his mother-in- law,
She still didn't agree with him!.

Visit to Windmill. 15.9.21.

Visit today was to the Windmill, no!, not a real one but the carvery in Denton with friends and the dogs though we had to sit in the vault with the dogs, that was no problem though.

We were joined with my friends daughter up from Torquay, so it was the first time they had seen each other since the pandemic.

I had been to the windmill myself a week ago to check out the situation regards the seating and serving which had turned out to be almost back to normal!.

Certainly dog friendly here.

The meal was the usual nice carvery with Pepe and I having Turkey and Roast Beef with all the trimmings.

On the way home we passed the site of the old Pomona, looking a lot better now as the old pub had been empty for years and the druggies had kept breaking in at the back.

Don't think I'd like to live there though with the bus stop right outside the door!.

As it was nice and sunny and warm we decided too go to the ressers and walk a bit of our dinners off.

Beautiful Day.

Some of this years Canadian Geese chicks all grown up.

Had a chat with one of the workmen who told me they were changing the valves and that hatch beneath the jib was 30 metres down, that's 100 feet in old money isn't it.

Whilst here at the workings met a friend I've met recently, (Strangers are friends you haven't met yet aren't they)
Steve had his new Drone with him and put it up in the air and explained all the working and specifications.

I'd seen some of his pictures on -line previously flying over Hartshead Pike in Oldham and couldn't believe the clarity of the pictures!

This picture of it right it in front of me taking a picture of it picturing me!.

You wouldn't believe the size and weight of it, fits in the palm of your hand  and can be programmed to do all sorts of things

Hoping he will send me a picture of that.
4K pictures and it goes out as far as it will go and then will only go as far as it will get back with the battery, had wondered about that.
Steve has a pilots licence and says you can get a test on-line.
Do I want one or will it be a flash in the pan after a few flights out,??????, a lot of money for that, as I'd have to buy the model he has!

Talking of money, got this 50 pence piece this week, first new one I've had since the pandemic, People have only been able to use their plastic friend for the last 18 months.

Has you can see it's an 2020 coin.

Also got a few other coins that I already have, will keep them in case anyone needs them for their collections.

Got this Jigsaw from the charity shop on Sunday, and goodness me I remember most of them!

But it did make me wonder if the recipes have changed over the years much, as I'd had a can of Oxtail soup the other day and thought it tasted funny, so read the ingredients and sure enough they have added Curry powder, I'm sure that wasn't in it originally was it?.

Two cannibals were eating a clown and one said to the other

"Does this taste funny to you?"

This week's outings,10.9.21.

This week we went to the usual places as the virus is still out there isn't it, at our tender age we have to be careful don't we!.

Had a text message from GPs saying they were doing Flue jabs that day up to 7-00pm, went at 6-00pm and they must have just finished their tea and we were soon in and sat waiting whilst being booked in then it was the jab, never felt a thing but in Lidl's afterwards realised my shirt was all bloody and my arm was bleeding, was sore for 48hrs but alright now!.

Still got the bruise though!.

At the Ressers, there were workmen working and was told later that they were changing some valves.

Was nice sat in the shade, Pepe is not the right type for hot weather.

Looks like father and son thing.

Give you some idea of the zoom on my Nikon P900 camera, a look across the water and then a zoom in

You can now see this guy sunbathing, so beware ladies if you think of going topless!

The tough guy who owns this water, with his mate.

The grooming must go on.

This is the boss's tag, his mate hasn't got one.

Spotted a Little Grebe but just out of range, they are very shy.

Nice little Moorhen.

Round at the wildlife centre, the coffee shop was open and these cyclists enjoying a break.

Can't sit here though!.

There it is to scale.

Blue tits enjoying our peanuts.

Reminds me of Orville.

Had to have our ice cream too.

Back home our Fuchsias are doing well this year, must be the hot weather, and when I'd cut them back to an inch from the ground I thought I'd killed them, has done them good evidently.

In the back garden the berries on the bushes are growing well too, plenty of food for the birds later in the year.

Got myself a new electric kettle today, the old one wasn't broke but getting past its sell by date.

The new one looks better too, and only £19.99 from Lidl.

Whilst at Lidl saw these nice plants and thought we would have a change from Mother-in -laws tongues

Fits in well in the corner and not in full sun, not sure about the draught though, we will have to see.

Its one of these!.

Goldfinch babies.

So a good week up to now, and my friends daughter up from Devon yesterday so we will see her tomorrow at Pear Mill Café!.

Know how she feels ?.
