Chadderton Hall Park, 26.9.2019.

Today went to a different venue, been before but not for a long time and needed to see if the Pavilion Cafe within the park was still functioning and as good as last time we went.

We were not disappointed, the food was great and at very reasonable prices.
This meat and potato pie with crust was £5.50.
Beetroot or Red cabbage too.
Couldn't finish it all even though Pepe helped out with the meat.

One of the nicest Apple pie and custard I've had in a long time.

Pepe was made welcome too and even though we had to sit outside, they have put up blinds in case of rain, new since our last visit.

So the main purpose of the visit was complete,so after a visit to the loo's we set off on a walk round the park, it was still in a very nice condition as we remembered it!.
Down by the river.

The main park area.

Chadderton  Fold View, the ornamental gardens.

There is even a small garden centre which was run by special needs people last time we went but unfortunately wasn't open today.

So a nice day out except, I think I ate too much and suffered for it on the way home!.
Like this Cormorant I saw the day before, trying to eat this massive fish!
Eyes too big for our bellies.
This was at Reddish Vale Park by the way.

The fish won the battle.

Even though this heron had a go too.

Also snapped this Cinnamon Teal Duck at the Vale, fancy that a duck that normally  comes from America!, probably an escapee,
and the same surname as me.

This Nuthatch in their classic pose.

Our national bird was singing its head of, even I could hear it!.

So a nice couple of days.

You know its going to be a bad day,
when the bird singing outside your window is a vulture.
Or
When you ask your secretary to file some papers for you and she says wouldn't it be easier to trim them with scissors

Nice quiet day down the Vale, 16.9.2019.

Started off in the Community garden where we put up three new feeders, one for peanuts and two of the caged variety hopefully to keep the Squirrels off.
Its true that even Squirrels need food but they just destroy the plastic feeders, so hope these metal ones will last a bit longer.

Pepe thinks he's in heaven in the community Garden, can't keep his eyes open.

Sat on his Auntie Mary's bench, "Are we going to the Cafe yet Dad".

This Grey Wagtail stood still for a change today, they are usually flitting about and tail wagging!.

Blue Tit enjoying the new feeders.

Best taken off the feeders, look more natural don't they.

Cute little Coal Tit.

Got to eat your green Bugs!/

Cheeky Robin sat with me on my bench.

The Baby pigeon's flew off after I took this picture, so might not see them again.

Another fat baby, need to get stocked up for the winter !.

The Little Grebes still have two babies on their back.

The Acrobatic Nuthatches.

Tried a bit of Macro photography today as there seemed to be a lot of butterflies about, don't ask me their names as I'm not into them yet!.

This little fellow seems to appreciate the John Holmes memorial bird table.

Well that's it for today folks, hope your day was as good as mine.
Pepe and I had plenty of friends to chat too and wildlife to feed and enjoy.

A Vulture boards a plane carrying two dead Raccoons.
The stewardess looks at him and say's "I'm sorry sir".
"Only one carrion allowed per passenger"

Another first for me, 5.9.2019.

Decided to have a quick trip down the Vale before having lunch with my doggie friends at Pear Mill today and so glad I did!.
Had a drink at the info centre and then gearing up with the camera and binoculars decided to check out the Little Grebe's on Sunnyside Pond as they had been sat on their nest for quite a few days now, and a couple of ladies said they thought they had seen a baby but were not sure.
When I arrived the male looked very busy round his mate and next thing I saw him offering up a titbit to a baby that appeared from under the mother.

Then Mum decided to go off and get something to eat and Dad took over the nest duties, but I thought he wasn't taking his duties very seriously and the baby looked a bit vulnerable sat on it's own.

Then Dad must have realized he would get some serious ear-ache off his miss's if he lost the baby so gathered it up and sat on it.

That was my signal to get off to Pear Mill Cafe for my own lunch, which was very nice as usual there.
So all in all a nice rewarding day and perhaps will see the baby riding on mum's back soon as they do the same riding as the great Crested Grebes.
Spotted a Cormorant on the Lower Mill Lake as well today, look black from a distance but close too they are quite nicely marked.

Pepe, my Longhaired Chihuahua had his six weekly wash and trim on Wednesday and while he was being done I called in a charity shop and picked up a couple of nice Jig-Saws, always have a few on hand.
Keep your eye on the Jig Saw tab at the top to see the progress on my different puzzles done.

So there you have it till next time.
