Weekend wildlife.April 2015.

Weekend wildlife.April 2015.
This weekend at the lake there was plenty of activity and plenty of mating and already some babies about!.

Round the big lake.

Up to the weir.

In the nature garden near the top cottage and toilets

Took this bug with the new camera, could only just see it with my own eyes, then of course, thinking what it was?.

Then saw this sign and it looks like my bug is a young Hoverfly.

Plenty of baby Mallards.

Even some baby Moorhens.

This is the way you clean your feathers, Son.

How many babies can you see?.

Todays Baby grown already over the last couple of days

The Coots haven't got any babies yet, there again their eggs keep getting stolen and have to lay more!

Other birds round the lake.

Bob and I thought this White duck was the Minder for the pair of Eider ducks, but that doesn't seem to be the case, snapped this this weekend!.
There again he could be giving the two Eiders Piggyback rides, but I think she is playing fast and loose with two males don't you!.

My turn now!.

Ride em cowboy.

Bargain of the week, nice plant pot £1.29 at the charity shop!.

..................................................................................................

Two translators on a ship are talking.
"Can you swim?" asks one.
"No but I can shout for help in eight languages!"

A man was desperate to see some Llamas, and told his wife.
She said Alpaca suitcase!.

That's all for today folks.

A Friday in Bakewell.

A Friday in Bakewell.

This past Friday being a beautiful sunny day again, Marjorie, Pepe and I had a trip out to Bakewell, stopping on the way at Buxton again for a cuppa and a quick look round the shops.
Whilst at this Cafe a young lady in an electric wheelchair asked could she stroke Pepe, I said we can do better than that and sat Pepe on her lap, she said with a tear in her eye that it had made her day, and seeing her so happy made my day.

Then it was onwards to Bakewell, where we had lunch at a Cafe in a courtyard with vines overhead, very picturesque, But it had changed hands since our visit last year and wasn't as good, still move on and try somewhere else next time hey!.

Walking down by the river to see the wildfowl, first thing to strike you is the Love Locks on the wires of the bridge.
Must be a new craze I thought and as soon as i got home googled Bakewell, Bridge, and Padlocks and it is a craze that's going round Europe it seems and started in Paris!

Pepe not too sure of it! and Marjorie admiring the the Duckie's excuse the pun!.

This is the first bridge to be effected and look at it now!

The article even mentions Bakewell and a picture of Bakewell's bridge like mine.

Your cup of tea or an eyesore?, depends on your age I suppose and the person you are with at the time.
Mr & Mrs Chubb will be happy though hey!.

Well another nice interesting day, hope I've not started the wheel rolling in Manchester with this craze or haven't I just not seen it here already!.

Day out in Buxton.

Day out in Buxton.

This past Thursday had a day out in Buxton with Lady friend Marjorie!.
Took the new camera and had a good session with it as you can see

The building being refurbished and as you can see zooming in on the crest on the top, the stag on the right needs another antler fitted.

Into the park.

Another admirer of Pepe

See the squirrel on the tree.

There it is

Beautiful rockery

In the park, near to the childrens play area there is this wonderful piece of  tree art

At the top there are all sorts of animals.

A doorway into the imagination.

A Roman centurion.

A crusader Knight?.

Lady with water jug

Marjorie standing back in wonder.

Put him down you don't know where he's been!.

This heron on the island in the middle of the lake, no model boats to disturb it here though.

The main street pedestrianised, looking towards the park.

Looking the other way, towards the viaduct.

Nice cafe this, run as a charity, all the old 50s and 60s music and posters on the walls, food good too, no dogs though!.
.......................................................................................
Can a one armed man change a light bulb?

Yes, he can if he's still got the receipt!.

"What have you for grey hair", she said to the hairdresser.
"The greatest respect Madam" said he.

A bird in the hand is better than two in a photograph!.
