The past hot hot week, 24.7.21.

Started off this month with all good intentions to post a bit more often, but hadn't counted on the weather and its been too hot to get out much, partly with my hayfever and partly with pepe's long hair, he's really struggled with the heat.

Quite a while back I had a water leak in the bathroom and it came though the ceiling in the kitchen, Son John repaired the leak and this week finally got round to find a slot in his work load to clad the kitchen ceiling, and it was certainly worth the wait , has he has done his usual great job!

Before the refurbishment.

Now!, what a difference, New LED lighting too.

I've stripped off the old border , going to change the colour of the paint on the walls after I've Caulked the edges where ceiling meets walls, but its been too hot to do much this past week.

Cupboard doors will be given a rub down and re-varnished.

Did another little job this week, this is the stable door into the kitchen, where Pepe sleeps at night. the door doesn't match the posh ceiling so the last jigsaw I did was just the right size to fit.

This is what the door looks like now with a Chinese theme picture!.

Some of the jigsaws from the charity shop recently, a you can see the top one is the one I used on the kitchen door.

Pear Mill Café this week saw Jean and Peter G with these teapots and doggie cruets, always get a change there.

I always look round at the stalls for anything that catches my fancy and saw this unusual plant top holder, its stood on the decorating trestle until I get round to spraying it satin black to match the wrought iron staircase you can see in the background.
Thought it would go nice with the staircase with a nice plant in that will stand the dark hall.

Over at the ressers the new goslings are doing well.

Bit bigger than the pigeons now.

Saw these cute Mallard ducklings yesterday, first I've seen on the ressers this year.

Proud Mum, has eight chicks.

This week saw the moon in this reddish colour, perhaps something to do with the heat, that's some cloud drifting across.

Saw Kate and Wills on the TV the other day at St Andrews and remembered that's where they went to university, whilst on holiday there a few years back saw this Café just down the high street with this sign in the window!, can't get much better advertisement than that can you!.

Bought this water gun from Lidl the other day to keep the cats off the bird feeders, they are certainly not too frightened by Pepe!.

Cooler today so might get round to doing a few more jobs now, watch this space!.

More Babies in the garden, 6.7.21.

Today as it was threatening rain we decided to go to The Windmill carvery for lunch just to try it out for my friends, if you believe that you will believe anything!.

So after breakfast and a shower and shave, (don't like this new idea of beards) it was into the toy room to finish off the jigsaw my friends Bob & Joyce had bought me last week.

Disney's, The Villains.

Quite a challenge this one with all the small areas of colour

Then it was off to the Windmill.
After waiting at the entrance it was log in with the Covid 19 Appt on my phone then to be taken to a table where I was given my cutlery and my order taken. So with a drink brought over, I was then taken to the counter of the carvery where an old friend Maggie gave me a big beaming smile which made my day.
The new system is that you just point out what you want and your plate is loaded up, and I mean loaded up!, I wouldn't have normally taken as much but I suppose they thought they were doing you a favour but it was a bit over facing for me, still I did my best and saved Pepe some roast beef.

It was a very nice change after all the lockdowns!.

Back home noticed this nice Male Chaffinch, don't see many of these in the garden, so perhaps word has got round that Pepe's place has a good table!.

This baby Goldfinch is waiting for its mother to feed it, but she wasn't around.

Might try it myself this green stuff isn't very tasty.

Oh well I might as well help myself!.

We have got lots of baby Sparrows and Starlings as seen here.

The Non Stop Begonias enjoyed the rain shower today

So it was another good day for me and the lad.

Got another couple of   bargain Jigsaws from Amazon delivered today so plenty to go at for a while.

Wet Weekend, 2-4.7.21.

Wet this weekend, but there again the gardens need the water don't they!, and it helps too when you're on a water meter.

Plenty to do, Son John bought me this Jigsaw for Fathers Day

Tricky one with all that sky!.

Friday on the Ressers we saw some new baby Goslings.

Not much bigger than Pigeons.

Saw a few of these, Roland Rats too.

Its said that you are never more that 6 feet away from a rat in this country, as long as they stay at the ressers I don't mind.

Not many Moorhens about, think the aggressive Coots see them off.

The children enjoying the freedom after the lockdowns.

Very serene, don't need to go abroad with places like this.

We went to Pear Mill Café on Saturday to meet friends and chat, helps to keep one sane doesn't it.

On the day Pepe had his usual free boiled ham brought to him with our drinks whilst our food was being prepared, the little birds are the salt and pepper pots, there are all sorts there and you rarely get the same ones twice.

Its a really great atmosphere and the dogs all love it there too, its the treats of course!.

Bought Pepe a chill collar on Friday and he looks quite cool in it, He doesn't seem to be bothered either.

So instead of sat there panting he was quite comfortable it seemed, so money well spent, having said that the weather has changed some what, still hopefully there will still be some more Summer to come yet.

At home the double non stop begonias are doing well and giving a good display.

My Clematis, "Josephine" is coming on well this year, must be all the sunshine we have had and the watering I've been doing.

Well off to get the beast his dinner before he starts attacking my ankles!.
