Action at Debdale Park, 22-28.3.21.

Plenty of action this week at Debdale Park, the weather still quite cold but it was worth the effort to go.

Found someone had put up some feeders in the Orchard and that they were being well attended, so popped over to Home Bargains and bought another couple of feeders plus one from home, then next day armed with them plus some peanuts sat on the plastic bag I always carry in my pocket was rewarded with a couple of Jay's and numerus other birds, had a good day sat in the sunshine.

Some of the Jays I saw.

Of course it was a race with the squirrels to see who could get the most, racing away to bury their loot and get back before it was all taken.

The little guys had their share too, this Great Tit doesn't look too Great against the others does it!.

There again these Long tailed Tits are smaller still.

Makes one wonder how these little things survive the bitter cold weather.

Cute little Blue Tits enjoying the fat balls.

No shortage of Robins.

Greedy guts with a large piece of fat ball.

A little Coal Tit.

On the Gorton Lower Reservoir there are a pair of great Crested Grebes

All the ritual dancing they do at this time of year seems to have tired this pair out.

Think this is the resident Male.

Plenty of spring flowers about at the moment too.

Picnic at Denton Rock, 18.3.21.

Had my regular picnic with a friend today at Denton Rock, KFC, we sit in our own car's and chat though the open windows!, weather was kind to us today, in the past we have had to shut the windows with it raining.

After a nice meal and chat Dave went home to walk one of his Daughters dogs and Pepe and I went down to McDonalds at Debdale Park and was lucky to get a free coffee there and then a walk round the park!.

The only birds about today seemed to be Robins, but who doesn't love Robins, so here are a selection of them!.

The odd Squirrel.

I must have gone at the wrong time today for anything else, still all tomorrow not touched yet!, weather permitting of course!.

The past weekend, 12.3.15.

Had my second Vaccination on Friday so that's that out of the way!, not that I can go rushing about like a headless chicken now, still have to obey the lockdown rules!.

I go out for lunch on alternate days at  McDonalds or KFC, that's my balanced diet! and Pepe loves it too. Both are drive -throughs so don't have much contact  with many people doing that, and then its a walk round the park (Debdale) with the camera with Pepe hooked on my belt, so he doesn't shake the camera!.

Usually meet up with people for a chat at a distance, and today was a treat to meet up with a young couple who had this beautiful little dog that I thought was a young Husky puppy,  but I was wrong and it turned out to be a Pomeranian cross Husky that its title is a Pomsky  by the name of Sapphire. It was the same size as a Pom but the looks of a husky with the usual husky blue eyes!.

Beautiful calm dog and very obedient and puppy size but three years old and that's as big as it will get.

Pepe found some admirers, don't usually photograph children but there Mum and Dad insisted I took their picture with him.

Think they both had new shoes as they seemed to stick them out.

Plenty of Squirrels about today.

A Nuthatch, usually only see them on the trees upside down, but the lure of the food tempted this one down to the ground.

Plenty of Robins about, but this one the best picture out of the bunch.

This is a Coal Tit, you can always tell them from the other Tits as they have a white stripe up the back of their head like American Lieutenant's helmets in old war films.
A bit quick so will have to try for a better picture next time.

A beautiful sunny day today, but still quite cool, but if you kept on the move it wasn't too bad.

Male Blackbird found a tasty treat.

These are pictures of my local park, Debdale Park which also backs on to the Lower and then Upper reservoirs

Nice wide paths and recently been resurfaced so not at all muddy .

Lucky to have these wide open spaces just 5 minutes from my doorstep

The paths round the Reservoirs are a bit muddy at times but there again they are maintained by United Utilities I would imagine!.

The Past week in Debdale Park, 1-7 March 2021.

The Past week in Debdale Park, my local.

Been nice and sunny but very cold, still you can't have everything can you!.

In my last post I showed a long tailed Tit and said apart from its long tail it would be the smallest bird  in the UK.

Was there again this week hoping for another sighting and low and behold look what appeared! A Goldcrest which is the smallest bird in the UK!
Can you imagine the size of the young ones these have?.

There is another one of these called a Firecrest and the crest on the top is Red as in Fire!, not seen one of those yet, fingers crossed hey!.

Plenty of Robins about.

Leave some for me Mr Squirrel.

There was a couple of ring Necked Parakeets courting in the big tree with all the holes in it.

I'm shy!

He said this is the place.

Looks alright!

What do you think Gladys is it good enough for you to move in with me.

Not sure Fred, is it big enough for a big family?.

What do you mean a big family, what have I done!!.

A piece of fat ball, broken up.

Rooting for bugs.

Mr blackbird.

Got my appointment for my second jab this week so then that is it, but will still have to follow the rules, not that it's though you can do much else as there is nowhere open anyway, still might not be long now!

Just filled in my census form online too, that was easy enough, what would we have done a few years ago without the internet and contactless cards?.

I love that TV show with all the different video clips of things going disastrously wrong all the time.

What's it called?, Oh yes the news!,
