Derwent Valley trip, 19.9.2017.

Today Pepe and I had a trip to Derwent Valley, been before but it was such a nice sunny day decided it was time for another visit!.
The journey there was nice except the part where you get to the end of the M67 which turns into an A road but more like a B road!.
Still it was worth it once we got there, the Buttie cabin and Information centre were open as usual

Can't be bad, though there was only one lady in the cabin, I felt a bit sorry for her as there was a good  crowd there when we got there about dinner time.
She seemed to manage very well though and we didn't have to wait too long got our Sausage and Bacon barm, delicious as well.

I will help you finish off that barm, don't put it in the bin, say's Pepe.

This couple look a soft touch!.

No change?, you can buy a parking ticket in the info centre, check the time on it though!, mine was wrong!.
The first thing of interest there was this nice scooter, not seen one like this before.

Don't know about the Peak District, looking at this water it's more like the Peat district!.

This white duck wasn't being ignored,

He started tapping the guy on his back

And was making sure he had nothing left.

Bit of shelter if it rains.

Then on to the dam itself, the east tower.

That's not the tower leaning, think it's me.

They didn't just build a lump of stone in those days, its very decorative even right at the top.

West tower.

Some of those stone blocks are really large, no machines like the builders have these days.

Notice for the 100 years celebration.

So there you have it the full history.

On the way back to the Cafe.

Celebration seat.

A lot of people about so not as many birds, still got a few Chaffinches at the feeding stations.

All the car parking fees go to the bird feeders they say, so the parking fees which seemed a bit steep are lining the birds bellies and not someones pockets!.

So a good day out, and on the way back stopped in Glossop and got a DVD I'd been looking for, 'Flash Dance' with Jennifer Beals at the record stall in the indoor market, got a huge selection in there!.

Time is a great healer,
But a lousy beautician.

You know you are getting old, when the candles cost more than the Cake.

What happened when the old lady streaked though the flower show?,
She won first prize for the Best Dried Arrangement!.
