Morning round Daisy Nook Country Park.30.12.2017.

Today even though it was a bit damp and dark Pepe and I set off to Daisy Nook Country Park.
When we got to the Cafe  there, the young Ladies were a welcoming sight and not just because they had saved us a 50p and a £2 coin for my collection!.
A  50p Peter Rabbit and a £2 Florence Nightingale, Nice one ladies.

After breakfast, we set off round the park to see if there was anything to see and there at the fisherman's pool was this nice heron!.

Then further along the canal towpath there were these little chaps, and they went mad for some seed which I always have in my pocket.

Plenty of Robins about,

This Blue Tit didn't turn out as good as the others, a bit more timid .
Great Tits

Even a  few Coal Tit's

The Nuthatches don't seem to be as colourful here as at Reddish Vale Country Park?.

Back at the Cafe for a hot drink to warm up, spotted this little chap on the bird feeder behind the cafe,

So all in all a good walk round.
The fishing pond was part frozen, though still overflowing quite strongly down the run off to the river, which was a raging torrent today, not surprising really is it, the amount of snow and rain we have have recently.

This moorhen was lurking in the undergrowth at the side of the first pool from the cafe, perhaps hoping at get the first of the leftovers, though there aren't many from the Cafe as the food is too nice not to be all eaten up. Gave it some of my seed, the Cafe could make a few bob selling bird food I think, perhaps they think they have enough to do with the food!.

Then back to the car, Pepe looking good on top but you should have seem the underneath of him, had to go into the sink when we got home, still he's due for his wash and trim next year!, wow that sounds bad doesn't it, but it's only next week folks!

So that's it for today folk's, next post I will be the writing of  our celebrations over the Christmas, New Year and Birthday next week!.

The past week, 15.12.2017- 19.12.2017.

The past few days has seem Pepe and I out and about to Grandpa Greens cafe in Diggle where we had a very nice lunch and though it was very cold outside we were nice and warm in the doggie area that has a big heater on the ceiling!.

The Cafe.

Then it was another visit to Daisy Nook Country Park on the Friday which turned out to be very cold.

What I lot I've got, which one will I chose first?.

Get stuck in before it all goes!

Can't we go home now, its freezing!.

You've got your mask on, looks better with that on says he!.

I'm nodding off here, Stood up!.

Today at Reddish Vale, after a cuppa and a chat in the info Centre, had a walk round to the big tree to see if there where any Parakeets there today, and here they are,

Two out today, but a lady on the Stockport Nature Watch website reported there were lots of them on her bird feeders in her garden, so perhaps giving the Vale a miss today for better picking elsewhere!.

As you can see it was quite misty on the big lake

Then as I got nearer realised why, it was frozen under the misty parts as you can see the birds stood on the ice

On this picture you can see the reflections of the flying birds on the ice!

I was in luck today as there were a pair of Goosanders flying between the lakes.
The Male.

The female, pictures not too good with the misty conditions.

At least you can see what they are!.

Then last but not least a pair of Little Grebes!.

Back down near the entrance, where everyone feeds them were these ducks,

Rain drops keep falling on my head?, no that's where I've been diving for the seed that sinks!.

Arches in the mist!.

That's all folks.

It was off to Morrison's for their famous Fish & Chips, lovely grub!.

So even  though the weather hasn't been very nice still got Out and About with the Dog Walkers and their dogs.

Another visit to Daisy Nook, 12.12 2017.

Today, even though it was quite cold and icy, we set off to Daisy Nook Country Park for a bite to eat and a drink.
The roads weren't as bad as we thought and the councils seem to have been on the ball and had the gritters out and about!.

Some of the strange structures round the park, that's the little hound in the front leading the way.

Still plenty of snow and ice about, and blooming freezing!.

If you are wondering what these strange structures are there is a chart on the previous post.

Met this young fellow on our travels, just wandered up behind us.

Good job there was a fence there, though it was quite friendly and let me stroke him/her, didn't think to check which.

Think it came up the hill from the valley to see what we were so interested in.

A couple of Blue tits for a start.

and a Great Tit.

Then some beautiful Nuthatches

They must have all been hungry and these Robins seemed to be all round  and didn't seem to have any territorial problems.

Every time I turned round there was another one a few feet away from me.

Got anymore mate I'm still hungry he seemed to be saying.

So though it was freezing cold, had a nice walk round and there is plenty to walk round as you can see from their map!

Then back to the cafe for a hot drink to warm up, all in all a good day.
Then of course had to spoil it with some ironing when i got home, whilst Pepe curled up on his chair in front of the fire!.
