V E Day 2025.

Yesterday went over to the Gorton lower reservoir to see how the nesting birds were getting on before meeting my mate at Morrisons for lunch.

The Great Crested grebe female was still sat on her nest with no sign of moving, so not sure if there are any eggs there yet.

I'm quite a long way away, so not worrying her.

The resident swans look well but no sign of a nest yet.

Ducking for seed.

The coot nest is better will a couple of chicks sticking their heads up out of the nesting material.

Makes one wonder how some of these trees stay up like this one, with their roots running along looking for somewhere to get a purchase.
Makes a nice spot for the pigeons to stand, waiting to be fed.

A bush with wild flowers on, near the start path for round the lower reservoir.

Today, we were at the Bridge View Café (Portland Basin) in Ashton, where my mate Chris was singing, strangely the place wasn't as full as normal on Thursdays!, perhaps it was because Chris had a Gig at The Lock in Stalybridge for the VE day celebrations put on by the Dementia Singers group who usually come to the Bridge Café on Thursdays.

So the café's loss was at least Chris's gain and I can report that the gig was a great success with everyone singing the songs of the old days, and a lot of dancing too, though not much jitter bugging with their age group unfortunely!.

I do remember the street party on VE Day, I was 7 years old and my sister was 2, so perhaps she didn't remember it!.

Finished this jigsaw this week too!.
