A first for me again!. 30.8.2109.

Not many posts this month from me, but I'll bet that even Lee Child get's Writers block sometimes and that's what happened to me this month, though I have been posting on the Reddish Vale website quite regularly.

That's my header picture this month, I'm pleased to say!.

On to the other first mentioned in the heading today.
Got a picture of a baby Pigeon!!.
Everyone asks why you don't see any baby pigeons, that's because they don't leave the nest until almost fully grown. But today caught this one taking the sun in an old kestrel nest box under the arches at Reddish Vale Country Park.
As you can see it hasn't got the iridescent purple band round its neck or the white comb on its beak.
So I was quite pleased, it made my day, doesn't take much these days, sad isn't?.
A few Grey Wagtails down the Vale as well today, never stay still for long so you have to get their rhythm right and catch them when they land!.

Met another photographer (Colin) from the website this week, it's nice to put a face to the name and see that he's got his son interested and bought him his first camera.
The United shirt isn't quite the shirt though, not only because it's Man Utd but I took this picture from the other side of the lake and bird's have better eyesight than me!

My family of Goldfinches are still doing well and here are a couple of the babies, from the back they look like they have long tailed jackets on, but no red faces.

I have discovered what the Internet said is true and the Goldfinches now seem to appreciate Sunflower hearts instead of Niger seed and only go on the Niger feeder when it's too crowded on the Sunflower feeder. perhaps that's evolution!.
Think this is Big Daddy.

Wednesday at the Vale Tearooms, they had one of those large 21st Helium balloons in the Cafe and I asked the lady owner if it was for her and she laughed and said it was because they had moved there 21 years ago, so congratulations to them a nice couple and  nice to see their hard work is paying off.

Not much into creepy crawlies, but thought I would have a go at some Macro work but not got the hang of it yet, has my school teacher used to put on my reports "Must try harder" nothing changed there then!

Was fascinated the way they went in and turned round and came out again, didn't look enough room in there to turn round.
Perhaps its only big bees that back out!.

Plenty of bees on these weeds.
Well that's enough of my rambling for now, catch you a little more often in the future.

Why did the Cannibal become a policeman ?, so he could grill his subjects.

Small cannibal to his mother,"I don't like my teacher"
Mother, "then just eat your chips".

Out and about, 7.8.2019.

With all the wet weather about at the moment it hasn't stopped us getting out and about, though we have had to dodge the showers at times!.
Had some exciting news since my last post, two of my pictures have been picked for publication!, the first one was my picture of an adult Great Crested Grebe and one of their babies,

This one was picked as the banner picture for the Reddish Vale Website this month and here is the picture on the website.

The next surprise was my picture of the Jay adult feeding its baby, this one was picked for the Daisy Nook Cafe calendar for next year (July) I believe it will be.
It's on the wall in the Cafe on display with the other winners and then will be included in next years calendar which when printed will be on sale and the proceeds go to the Children's Burns Foundation.

Some others pictures I've taken since my last post.
Another baby helping himself.

Baby Wren at Reddish Vale.

My Goldfinches are still coming regularly to my feeder.

One of the young Grebes having a shake after diving for its dinner.

Been to Pear Mill in Stockport again for lunch and on all the tables there are the old games we used to play before computers, here Peter G and Jean playing Snakes and Ladders whilst the dogs are quite happy under the table eating their free boiled ham treats.
Nice food/ drinks and the staff are all great and very friendly.
Note the old style crockery.

Managed to get the Eclipse of the moon the other night as well.

Got another jigsaw started this week, a lot of dark colours in this one will be a bit of a challenge this one!.

Got myself a Amazon Show 5 this week as well, and the alarm does wake me up and one of its functions is that it can help you to go to sleep too.
Once I took my hearing aids out the last alarm was useless!.
Another good thing is you can tell her to shut up and she does!.

Saw this bark on a tree this week at the marina behind the Kingfisher Pub
and it looked like tissue paper and was quite unusual, no idea what type of tree it was!.

Was reading of a large fire in Ashton yesterday and though the night, three mills on fire with 70 firemen and 15 engines, every respect for these guys, when everyone is running away these guys are walking into it!.
Been there, done that, got the tee shirt.

That's all for now folks.
