Deck pieces and formers

Went round to my mates house the other day and he kindly cut out the deck pieces (2) and formers (8) for me on his band saw, they are 6mm thick and whilst the other pieces are 3mm which can be cut quite easily with a fret saw or sharp craft knife it was prudent and less energetic to have them done on the band saw, so thanks for that Bob. That's one of his photo's on the header page by the way , credit where credit's due I say

The kit arrived

The kit for my Narrow Boat arrived in a long narrow box (of course it did, wouldn't fit into a short stubby one would it) It was well packed with plenty of recyclable newspaper to cushion it. After checking out the parts and plans was well pleased with the service and prompt response to my order. Was a bit disturbed about the instructions and A3 size plans but after studying them carefully I realised they would be alright, I'm used to Model Slipway kits with plans to scale check them out here so just wasn't expecting A3 size.
The fibre glass hull was near perfect and only needed a light rub down and rub the top edges in case the were any sharp bits, the rudder assembly and tiller arm are great and plywood parts well marked and spaced out for when the cutting starts.

Welcome to our Blog

I will try to enter something as often as possible and try to be as interesting as a retired person can be !.

I am starting a new build of a Model Narrow Boat and will try to keep the Blog up to date with that in case anybodies interested with the build.

The kit is a 53" Narrow boat at 1.12 scale which relates to a 53ft real one and as it's 1.12 scale there is the possibility
to use Dolls house items in it, but looking at the price of some of that stuff I will be scratch building some myself.

The kit was ordered from Riverside Models down in Norfolk, CLICK HERE
