That's April over already!, 30.4.2025.

Well, that's April over again for another year!, the weather has turned out nice and forecast for the next two weeks is looking good!.

It was 27 degrees today in Manchester and not seen rain for about two weeks now, we used to be called the rainy city but not anymore!.

The past week I've only been down to Reddish Vale once, so here are the pictures from then.

Swan on nest.

Female was still sat on her eggs, but Ivan her mate was looking after her well.

Blue tits.

Squirrels were as cute as ever.

A pair of mandarin ducks.

Male looking splendid in his breeding colours

Best kept bench in the park

Making good use of the Quinn bench.

Terrapins out enjoying the sunshine.

Signage in the park about the works that the park replaces.

Back home it was back to tree cutting again!,

The small chain saw I bought has been a godsend and could recommend it to anyone ( with a bit of common sense of course, as they are dangerous tools) but I discovered that the chains are all a standard size for all makes, so was able to buy another 4 chains and they came with two files to sharpen them, all for £19.99 from good old Amazon.

Cleared a lot of undergrowth tonight so we could see that needs doing next.

Can see the boundary mark now on the bottom left

Alfie's new plant seems to be doing alright on top of his box, keeping it well watered this weather though.

Till next time have a good May Bank Holiday.

Easter weekend, 2025.

Not been on here for quite a while, but not been idle at home and been down t the Vale a few times over the past few weeks!.

Is Spring here, don't think so yet it's still quite cool out of the sun.

Went to the community garden for a change.

Jill's Mum's bench.

Terrapin on Sunnyside pond.

 Blue tit at Sunnyside pond.

Little grebe on Sunnyside pond.

Female Bullfinches

Saw this Jackdaw at a nest site and then realised it was probably looking for an easy meal.

Great tit

Male blackbird.

At Bridge View café this week plenty of activity on the canal and inside with the kids off school.

Paddleboarders

Walkers and cyclists

Back at home, changed the Buddleia in the front garden for a Hydrangea and added a few Geraniums.

Been cutting down a biggg conifer in the back garden with my mate and neighbour, it got too big!.

The small hand chainsaw I mentioned in my last post came in very handy and cut though the branches and trunks of the tree with no trouble.
The price on Amazon has gone up now, must have realised how much people are liking it.
Chris cut this with his handsaw though, and we were lucky that some workmen renewing a roof opposite had finished and allowed us to fill up their skip which was good because we had filled our green bins to top top.
Good job we don't live in Stockport as the council there have started to charge the residents there an extra £55 on top of their council tax "What a **** liberty"

We renewed a section of fencing as well between our gardens.

Bought a new plant for the top of Alfie's box, I usually do alright with plants but I think the heat from his lamp mustn't agreed with some plants.

Alfie's dinner today with melon and grapes on!.

Well that's caught up with my news for you, promise I won't leave it so long next time.
