Wednesday, 25.10.23.

Tuesday, I had a walk round the Lower Mill pond at Reddish Vale Park, it was quite quiet as the weather was a bit iffy!.

The birds were glad to see me, or my seed/monkey nuts  I should say.

Did I see something moving there?.

Some of the signage in the park, but you won't see any of these now it's autumn.

Then it was off to Morrison's for my lunch, but OMG the young lady as soon as she saw me said "No Fish today!!", that's a first!.
so it was a Small all day breakfast for me.
Now you can't complain about that can you, £4.50, I didn't eat all that, the sausage and bacon rind was brought home for the local cats.

Pigs note that a large breakfast is double everything there at £7.00!.

Wednesday
Nice mild sunny day today in Manchester, so it was off to Gorton Lower reservoir, which is just across the road from me.

Mum and Dad finally got rid off the kids.

Male and female tufted ducks.

Plenty of Coots about today, they were even tugging at my trousers as I wasn't feeding them fast enough.

Large flocks of Canadian geese of course, they are everywhere.

Male pigeon strutting his stuff, the weather never seems to put them off does it.

Magpie with a monkey nut.

Another one trying for three at once.

Then it was off to The Windmill where the "dog walkers group" who haven't got a dog between them, had booked a meal with 25% off vouchers.

Very nice too with Coffees to follow.

I'd bought a drink and was checking my change when the young lady said "Have I given you the wrong change", "No I said, just checking for any King Charles coins". she then checked all the tills and her handbag and came up with nothing, but then came to the table later with a King Charles 50p of his coronation which was nice of her wasn't it!.

There you have it if you haven't seen one, his head is facing to the left, opposite way to the late Queens, as different monarchs do.

So a good sunny, calm, enjoyable day.

Friend sent me this, as it reminded him of me  before my new hearing aids, I used to use this joke.

Tuesday,17.10.23.

Been a quiet week for me since the last post, had my flu jab at the chemist and my Covid jab is due on Thursday at the doctors who are doing them again like the last time at the Festive Hall in Denton. Most of my friends have had theirs with mixed results, some ok and others feeling under the weather. Still it must be better than getting the virus hey!.

We went to Portland Basin on Saturday and saw these dogs puzzled by the ducks with no smell.

Nice picture in the café.

Signage on the canal.

If anyone is wondering what's being built on the site behind McDonalds in Gorton, that the constructors used to build the new bridge over Hyde road a few years back.

There you have it, it was on the News a few weeks back that the charging points in the London area was 18 to 1 car and in the northwest it was 85 to 1, so perhaps this is to help level us up!.

At Reddish Vale today it was very evident that winter is on the way, but it was a nice sunny day though a nip in the air.
Had a chat today with a nice young lady Rachel with her little daughter Robin, the young girl was very interested in the wildlife, nice to meet a youngster with an interest in nature.

The same cormorants from my last post were still there.

Was there movement there?.

Quite a few Gadwall's on the lower mill pond

A few herons on the ground and in the trees.

I'm not fishing honest, I don't eat fish, unless I can steal it from someone else that is!.

Blackbird enjoying some seed.

Then off to Morrison's for my weekly fix of Fish and Chips, I only order a mini one as I can't manage a standard one, then the waitress comes up and says, "you've got extra today", oh god how can I get though this without seeming ungrateful!.

What's the definition of macho?,
Jogging home after a vasectomy.

I'm saving for a rainy day, so far I've got a sou'wester, two mackintoshes and a canoe!.

Always keep your words soft and sweet- just in case you have to eat them!.

Tuesday Down Reddish Vale Park. 10.10.23.

For a change, it was a nice sunny day down the vale, pity it wasn't like that for my visitors from Oz to see it at it's best!.

The three cygnets are all doing well!.

In the middle of the lower mill pond there were four cormorants on the day.

A close up of three of them, with this first one a youngster.

There was another one lower down the pond, that had been fishing, so sat there drying out.

A male and female tufted duck.

There are a few herons about on the top mill pond.

A juvenile heron on the lower mill pond.

Juvenile Little Grebe on lower mill pond.

Plenty of activity it the top of the Top Mill pond, especially when I put out seed and monkey nuts.

One Monkey nut!.

He's doing better than that with three!.

Crow says "You stand on them to break into them".

This little fellow can only manage one nut, not that it hadn't tried for more.

The weather was so nice I decided to go over to Sunnyside pond and sat there soaking up some rays with a few friends chatting and spotted this great Tit.

A Nuthatch.

Another heron there too fishing, how it sees any food though all that duck weed I'm not sure, unless its getting midges feeding on the duck weed!.

So it was a good day, though my sister was flying out from London to Singapore for a few days stop over on the way home.

I stopped over at Morrison's for Mini fish & chips on the way home.
