Second week in July,2025.

Monday the 7th of July it was off down the Vale, it was very warm so didn't stay too long.

This site of pebbles on the right is usually full of water, but has you can see it's dried up with the hot weather.

Watched this young heron hunting along the bank on the other side of the top mill pond, I thought I might get a picture of it with a fish in it's beak

But like me it was out of lucky!.

Amazing, that the Little Egret is still around on the top mill pond.

Plenty of mallard babies about.

Mum giving them a few lessons on what's good to eat.

Here are a few Mallards that are a bit older.

Plenty of Terrapins on the top mill pond.

A few smaller ones on the lower pond.

From the other side of the pond.

Floral display on a friends bench on the lower mill pond, always fresh flowers there.

Black headed gull on the lower pond, not many of these about.

Then it was off to Morrisons for lunch with Chris the Singer.

Back home I thought the new electric bed deserved some new bedding so here's what it looks like now!.
Teal blue the colour!.

The computer stand I tarted up earlier was so nice so decided to go a bit further.

That's the top done as well.

That's it now as I've used all the materials up, waste not want not!.
Tuesday at the Bridge View café, they don't usually open on Tuesday's but they had a DO on so we were invited too!.
Learned this crowd come three times a year for their meetings, they must like it hey!.

Thursday
It was off to the Bridge View café again and it was full again, there again I think it's because my mate Christopher was singing.

There was another crowd booked in at the back but there was no reaction from them and I thought perhaps like me they were deaf, but when they were leaving quite a few told Christopher that they had really enjoyed it. I think artists like a bit of inter-action when they are performing as well.
My gang always give him a good slapping  clapping 😇 he's really good though, pop down to the Bridge View café to see him any Thursday.

Last night Friday I noticed the moon was quite lower down and a nice reddish colour, perhaps deflecting all the fires around with the hot weather!.

This is the joke section isn't it.

What's this government thinking trusting the French, with 700 million already paid out and the boats are still coming!, and the French fishing boats too.

First week in July, 2025.

Friday (27.6.2025) was over to the Gorton Ressers as it looked a bit overcast, but still quite warm.

You can just make out the Pennines in the background there!.

 Plenty of Canadian geese about.

All stages of age in there and the pigeons trying to get in.

This is a really young one.

Still this years, though earlier

A couple of female mallards.

Where's me Mum, there's a big Grested Grebe trying to get in the nest!
I've mentioned in the past how Coots like to decorate their nests, but this pair have gone over the top haven't they!.

I'm back now baby, I think she thinks, it's her old nest and wants it back ,but it's not going to get it back.

This coot a bit older.

The swan family are doing well and here feasting on mealy worms

I moved to the side of the tower and they followed me for more food, but as you can see the female put herself between me and her babies.

The male great crested grebe wasn't bothered about the ownership of the nest, still fishing for the family.

On Thursday we had a good day at The Bridge Café though my two mates weren't there, Jean was taking the other Peter for a hospital appointment.

My mate Christopher was giving his all and the crowd was loving it!.

There was even people from the Dementia group up and dancing, they may not remember somethings but they all seem to be able to sing along with Christopher's 50s and 60s songs!

You can't do that with todays songs and music can you, top of the charts this week, gone by next week.

You may have seen I've tarted up my computer stand recently from this,

To this,

Today the edging arrived, the colour is a bit different than the one Jean gave me, but I 'm not too concerned, I still like it.

Now wondering, should I cover the top and edging as well!, will have to give that some thought!.

So it's off to The Bridge Café again tomorrow with a full house of us Dog Walkers, though Christopher has a Gig somewhere in Oldham tomorrow with another singing mate.

There is a classic car show at the Café on Sunday as well if you are into classic cars!

Down the Vale for an hour, Friday 27.6.2025.

Friday it was off down the Vale for an hour before meeting my mate for lunch at Morrison's.

The Coots are still mating and nesting, it must be this hot weather.

These are from an earlier brood, but still uncertain about leaving the nest to go out into that great big world out there.

The mandarins are still about but un-recognizable without their colourful plumage.

A moorhen strutting it's stuff on the path, must be hungry to come this close.

Plenty of herons about.

This one had an itch

The Little Egret was on the path about 12 foot from me, but a cyclist road past and it flew on the back of the pond again, better luck next time.

Canadian geese goslings, getting quite big now.

Crow enjoying a peanut, seems to have a gammy foot, but managing quite well at the moment.

Today, Monday 30.6.2025, it was too hot to be walking around the Vale or the Gorton ressers so stayed in and did some jobs, then it was off to Morrison's with my mate, but it was too hot for a large meal so it was just a bacon buttie each!.

Back home the front garden is still doing well and looking quite neat.

The red edging for my computer drawer hasn't arrived yet, coming from the suppliers and not Amazon so does take a little longer!, still no hurry, might come up with another idea for the surplus in the mean time.

Well that's June gone again, I hope July is a bit cooler, at least Alfie is enjoying this hot weather...................................................
