Trip to Roaches Lock Pub, 4.7.2019.

Today after a recommendation from a friend Pepe and I went to investigate Roaches Lock Pub and Grub.
Found it easy enough, had passed it many a time but had never ventured in.

View from car park, which is quite large but I think you have to get there early!

The river runs though it, and feeds the canal.

View from the car park looking down the canal.

A seat if you get too tired.

Looking back to the pub which hadn't opened yet, so had a walk down the canal.

Some of the wildlife

Saw a few narrow boats as well.

Nice walks by the canal.

Another canal boat.

Run off from the canal into river.

Plenty of paths to explore.

Pub sign.

Outside seating area, under cover, even a heater in there.

Outside seating area, with Astro turf for the dogs.

Inside the lounge.

The Menu.

The beers Pepe's, if you believe that you'll believe anything!.

Pepe doesn't normally like fish but loved this Haddock.

One of the nicest apple pies I've ever had.

Then a trip to the toilet, and this was on the wall, quite amusing hey.
Spotlessly clean as well.

View from the outdoor seating area.

Then another walk to work off the fish and chips, this is a view from the back of the pub looking at the area where we had been sat earlier.

Going upstream this time, isn't the engineering of the Victorians wonderful.
Seems a very popular dog walking path.

Then another larger Canal boat resplendent with flower tubs and signage.

Though the lock, always people eager to help open the gates.

One of the cross over bridges.

More locks and engineering for overflows.

Passed this unusual Children's play group on the canal path made from an old fire station still complete with training tower!.
More government cutbacks no doubt, at least it's been turned into something worth while.

So a very good day out, called in to the pet shop in Lee's I usually go to when Pepe goes for his wash and trim.
Much to his delight got him some dried sausages he likes and his dried food he's been on since he was a pup.
Beautiful sunny day but not too hot, we don't like it too hot.
