Friday 23 November 2018

Wednesday down the Vale, 21.11.2018.

Down the Vale on Wednesday was quite cold and a bit misty so the pictures were not too good early on, but got better as the streets were aired!.
There were plenty of Goosanders about.
This is a Male and I always thing they are not as colourful as the females, which isn't the norm with birds is it!.

Females day out?.

Where are we going today Gladys?.

"The butler."

The shy Little Grebes

Preening time.

Are you coming indoors to help with the housework or are you going to stay out weighing up the other females all day!

Talk about Idle Jack!.

A couple of Mandarin Ducks, the beautiful colours on the male but the females are nicely marked in their own way aren't they

How do you get so many colours on one bird?.

They say a camel was designed by a committee but you can't say the same about these beautiful birds can you!.

"Stay away from my bird Mr Mallard"

I think this Crows mother has been seeing a magpie, but I read somewhere that they develop the white on their wings to imitate Magpies so they can go in their territory without being attacked, who knows!.

Then a nice Gammon, Egg and Chips at Morrison's for dinner and a warm up!.

Thursday was cinema day and this week it was Robin Hood but turned out like nothing as before!.
It was a bit like the "Assassins Creed" video game and all played out in the town and it was only in the last scenes did they all go to the Greenwoods.

I read in the papers at McDonalds that Lee Child has finally decided to drop Tom Cruise from the roll of Jack Reacher, which I'm sure will make a lot of his fans happy me included.
I like Tom Cruise in other roles but he's no Jack Reacher is he.

Today (Friday) had a trip to Daisy Nook to see friends there and then over to the Garden Centre for one of their Coffee and Cake deals £2.50!.
Well that's it for another day.

Sunday 18 November 2018

Weekend down the Vale 17-18.11.2018.

Nice sunny weekend for the time of year and the Vale was packed out on both days!.

Plenty of pictures of the Ring Necked Parakeets about.

"Anyone home?"

"Wheres she got too"

No one home.

One of the neighbours.

The Shovelers beak from a different angle which gives you a better idea of the size of it!.

Male Mandarin.

Mr & Mrs.

Plenty of Cormorants about.
Give us a wave!.

Don't make me laugh!.

He's always trying to get me to go out with him.

While their arguing I'll get the fish!.

Always on guard, this one high up in the trees a couple of hundreds yards away but the zoom got him.

Mr Tufted Duck.

Mrs Tufty.

The moon over Reddish.

So a nice sunny trip this weekend, beautiful colours, though the trees shedding their leaves helps with seeing the birds.

That's all for today folk's.

Sunday 11 November 2018

Down the Vale, 10-11.11.2018.

A few pictures from down the Vale this weekend,
Was lucky enough to see the Ring Necked parakeets again.

Ain't love grand!.

I'm shy.

She's a bit of alright hey.

Just have to see if she likes the nest I've found.

The Autumn colours are beautiful at the moment, and the falling leaves help in seeing the parakeets in the bare tree near the gates.

Looks like the nest box underneath the arches might have some new tennents soon.
Do you like the view from the dining room Sybil?.

Preening time for the cormorants.

Bet this young gull has never seen the seaside, more like the local tip.

What a shovelers beak is made for sifting though the mud at the bottom of the lake.

Got filters on the inside of his beak.

A lovely lady Goosander

And lastly a nice little, Little Grebe.

On the way to Sunday dinner at son John's called at the charity shop to drop off some jigsaw's I'd finished and picked up these nice colourful ones, like this company "Gibsons" as the pieces fit together very well.
Look at all those birds, pity we don't get all those varieties where I live!.

That's it for today folks
