Autumn in the parks, 28.10.22.

We like this time of year, not too hot for Pepe, but he's not too happy with all the leaves on the ground that wet his belly!.

All the colours in the parks really stand out at this time of year don't they.

This is one of my favourite views over the Debdale lower rezzer, looking over to the Pennines in the distance,

On an earlier post I had posted this picture and my mate Bob said they were farms in the distance, but on a better day it shows them as some rocky crags, still not too clear due to the atmospherics but it's as good as I'm going to get I'm afraid.
They must be on an ordinance survey map and named, perhaps Bob will find them on his Ipad now!.

Spot the heron.

There it is a bit nearer here.

A fluffy bummed Little Grebe in the distance too.

This is a young Great Crested Grebe, they are a little bit bigger than their small cousins.

A colourful pigeon amongst the everyday variety.

I think the Magpie's, recognize me and Pepe as they appear out of nowhere as soon as we get there, and sit there waiting to see if we have brought any monkey nuts.

Finished a new jigsaw today, was a Chinese one, I've had Chinese before, but this one was different in that the picture on the box was not the full picture, but at least there was a full picture poster in the box!.
The poster.

The finished puzzle and as you can see another unusual thing, an extra side piece which was confusing when as most people I start with the side pieces and couldn't get it right until I realised the extra piece!
Made it a bit different and a bit longer to do, think I might frame this one as it's nice and colourful, even if the colours aren't authentic

When you go into court you are putting yourself in the hands of 12 people who weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty.

Whose idea was it to have a letter "S" in the word lisp?.

Weekend, 14-17th October 2022.

This weekend we had our usual visit to Reddish Vale Country Park and were not disappointed with the amount of wildlife there.

One of our favourite spots is Sunnyside pond, this view of the seating area taken for the centre seat where the sun is on our right instead of directly in our face.

Centre seat shows the changing colours coming now.

On the pond there are these wildfowl.

Little Grebe.

Mallard.

Not sure what this beautifully marked one is though, will have to look into that.

Whilst there we were feeding the squirrels by hand and I couldn't believe how strong they are, I couldn't hold on to this nut, as you can see its straining to get it off me!

Cute little things, but I thought they were going to follow me home, that's all you need, a couple of these in your loft chewing your wiring!.

Meanwhile on the lower mill pond, plenty of tufted ducks

The male with white on its side.

The Female in various shades of brown.

This female having a bath.

Two of the juvenile Swans having a preen, looking all grown up now.

Looking whiter now as well.

Only one terrapin on the day and that was further down the pond than usual.

Same one taken from the other side of the pond, quite colourful underneath aren't they.

Couple of cormorants there too.

It's amazing there are any fish left with these fishing all day, they can manage really big fish too.

On the way round to the top mill pond noticed that the railway arches had been examined by the railway people, but they don't seem too bothered by the trees growing out of the brickwork!.

Don't fancy going on that rail line after seeing this

Some Little Grebes on the top pond, looks like two adults and a young chick, but right on the back of the pond.

Could only get this close of picture.

So a good weekend all round.

Two guys at a funeral, one said to the other "Do you know if he left is wife much"
"Yes" said the other "Almost every night".

Where there's a will, I want to be in it!.

The man who wrote the song "The Hokey Cokey" was buried yesterday, but they had a lot of trouble keeping his body in the casket,
They'd put his left leg in......

The pasted week, 8-12.10.22.

Not a bad week, though it has turned rather cool now.

Went to Pear Mill Café on Saturday and this was our table decoration on the day!, every table has one as well!.

Sunday saw us at McDonalds early for a Breakfast Meal,
Sister will remember this site, its the Gym opposite the Holiday Inn, as you can see the trees are getting their autumn colours now.

Then a stroll on to the ressers to see if any early bird migrants, though didn't see any.

Plenty of windsurfing learners out on the water, perhaps that kept the birds hidden.

The Magpies were out in force as soon as we got the monkey nuts out.

Must hide this and get back for some more before they are all gone.

This greedy one trying to pick up two at once.

Some nice Little Grebes on the bottom left hand corner of the lower Resser.

Then it was off to the family for Sunday dinner, on the way stopped off at the charity shop to check if they had any Jigsaws. Managed to get a couple and on the way out spotted a box set of  " Game of Thrones" Complete set of Series one and Two!. As I'd not seen any of them and had wondered what they were about, asked what the price was as there was none on it, "give us a £1" was the reply, I nearly snatched his hand off, five DVDs in each series so that was 10 DVDs in total!

If I don't like it, it will be a good donation to the Reddish Vale info centre.

Then off to dinner at the family as you can see by the state of one of my Great Grand children, it was Chocolate cake and ice cream for afters.

Monday we were at Pear Mill again, must learn another card game instead of Gin Rummy though, we are getting a bit fed up with that.

Tuesday we went to Reddish Vale again, not many there, perhaps all back at work or school now!.

On Sunnyside pool there was a couple of Little Grebes and caught this one with a little tiddler!.

Don't see them out of the water often.

The cheeky squirrel remembered us and came straight away for the monkey Nuts

Plenty of these guys about

Not many of these little guys about though!.

So not a bad week all round really.

How do you get down off an elephant?

You don't, you get down off a duck.

His wife had an electric blender, an electric toaster and an electric bread maker!

Then she said "there are too many gadgets and no where to sit down".

So he bought her an electric chair!!.

Its the way I tell em!.
