Good weekend, 17-19.5.2025.

Friday went over to the Gorton ressers again to see how the Great Crested Grebes were getting on.

Weather was a bit dull on the day, but brightened up later on.

Mum still sat on her nest.

You can just see a babies head popping out from the mum's back.

The 7 swan chicks were still doing well and staying close to mum and dad.

Even though the sailing club was very busy, the swans sat there and wasn't moving for them, must have thought it's their place!.

There is a notice near this run off "Don't feed the wildlife near here as it's endangering them" This mother coot can't read hey.
Monday went to see how the swans were and was upset to see only 5 there, then when I started to feed them, one popped up on the mothers back so perhaps there was two on her!, so I was feeling better then.

The Great Crested Grebes were out and about with their babies on their backs

Could only see two babies on the day, but perhaps more on her back.

Coot babies doing well, the parents can get quite aggressive so nothing else bothers them.

Back home my bush in the back garden is full of little white flowers and the bees love it, there was at least a dozen white tailed bees on my side, and there is my mate Chrisopher the singer trying to capture them on his side with his phone.

See him singing on Tuesday's at Pear Mill in Stockport and The Bridge View Cafe in Portland Basin in Ashton on Thursdays.

Check it out here.

Didn't know there were White Tailed Bee's (Bombus Lucorum) check it out on the internet!.

Good weekend, 21-24.2.2025.

Been  good weekend, for a change in my luck this month.

Friday got a new car, (New to me that is) it's a 71 Reg!.

The old car was 10 years old and the satnav was broke and was draining the battery so it was off to the electrical guy in Stockport who halved the drain on the battery but couldn't solve the problem as KIA have their own computer system. Whilst there they did a service and M O T and three tyres were border line, so I decided it was time for a change and got this Ford Ecosport, never had a Ford or a Blue car before!.

Desert Island Blue!.

Quite nice to drive and quite nippy, even though it's only a 1Ltr and three cylinders!.

Got some jazzy car mats from Amazon that match the colour very nicely. The rear door hinges sideways instead of up and down, so that solves the problem of me keep walking into it!.

Not driven it much yet, but will get used to it eventually, but first impressions are good!.

Saturday

We went to The Bridge View Café as it was the yearly visit of the Steam punk people and it was a packed house again, but Claire & Brian reserved our usual table so it wasn't a problem, it was the queuing up to order that was the problem, still the food is always worth the wait.

Here are a few of the pictures I took on the day, some wit ]h my phone and some with my Nikon A1000!.

There was even a few stalls that sold some of the items they seem to like to wear.

So it was all good clean fun on the day and enjoyed by all.
Sunday stayed in and did some house work and fitted the rear car mats which fitted perfectly!.

Monday it was off to Morrisons with my mate Chris the singer, did my shopping whilst waiting for him to arrive, then we had our usual fish & chips, very nice there!.

Off to Pear Mill tomorrow!, where Chris will be singing.

Good weekend, 13-14th Sept 2024.

Friday the weather wasn't too bad so it was off to Reddish Vale Country Park for an hour before lunch at Morrison's.

Great Tit near to the viaduct.

Heron on the top mill pond.

The flasher, catching some ray's

Plenty of Cormorants about preening and drying out

Then off to Morrison's for a nice lunch of Gammon, Egg, chips and peas, very nice too and staff very pleasant.

Plenty of Terrapins on their favourite perch on the top mill pond.

Saturday it was a day I'd been looking forward to for a while as it was the Steam Punk event at the Portland Basin and The bridge View Café. It had been very good last year and it was even better this year as they had a Ukulele Band with them this year

Chris my mate from next door was there with his usual Tuesday/Thursday singing kit, but didn't bother getting it all out he just joined in singing with the band!.

There were plenty of Steam Punk people in attendance, first I saw was Chris with a couple talking outside and he was getting the lowdown on what it was all about.

This lady with the teapot theme hat and parasol

I think it's a great idea to get people together and chatting.

This couple had a Spanish theme to their outfits.

This was a very dapper couple with his tall top hat

There was this stall of wood turned items for sale, and found out the young lady there was the daughter of Bill the artist., I bought a nice back scratcher the same size as the shoe horn on the far left there.

There were stalls selling items of clothing and Chris bought his Granddaughter a nice leather jacket which no doubt made her day.

That's me in the mirror!.

So it was a nice couple of days, can't say the same for today though as its chucking it down, don't usually go out on Sundays anyway so it's no problem.

.........................................

I got an odd job man in to help me do some  jobs round the house, I gave him a list of ten things.

He only did 1,3,5,7 and 9,

....................................

A lorryload of Tortoises crashed into a trainload of Terrapins.

It was a turtle disaster!.

......................................

I took an IQ test.

The results were negative!😂
