The Babies over the weekend, 11-12.6.22.

Over the weekend we went to the Ressers to see how the Great Crested Grebes were doing and they are doing really well, with three of the babies swimming around now.

After dinner nap.

As you can see one of the babies doesn't want to leave the comfort/safety of mums back yet.

The young swan is doing well, and learning to feed itself.

This is fun, looking down for food.

Getting big now.

At Pear Mill Café was on my own which was strange as I usually meet my friends there but one was on holiday and the other recovering from an operation last week.

Still I was looked after by the staff and they came over chatting which was nice, they probably didn't realise I was reading my Kindle book, Its nice to know your thought of though isn't it!.

After my second cuppa it was off round the back to see the baby Peregrines, (hopefully) as they seem to be getting ready for fledging now, but they were there all standing on the front of their ledge.

I couldn't believe it, there were four of them!, I'd only seen three at anyone time before.

Getting crowded up there now.

There is mum, making sure they are safe from a distance, maybe trying to get them to stretch their wings and fly.
Notice the yellow on her beak which the babies haven't got yet.

Well perhaps tomorrow, who made all this mess while I've been away?.

Back home the Baby Goldfinches are feeding well.

Adult and Juvenile, note no red face!.

All this talk of babies has just reminded me, I'm due to be a Great Granddad again this month!, hopefully everything will turn out alright there.

Be nice to your kids, they'll be choosing your nursing home.

The older you get, the better you realise you were.

What happened when the old lady streaked though the flower show?

She won the first prize for Best Dried Arrangement!

It's the way I tell em!!.

Baby time at Debdale, 6-9th June 2022.

Plenty of babies about  at the moment at the Debdale Lower reservoir.

The only cygnet at Debdale is doing well and getting bigger every day.

Another pair of Great Crested Grebes have appeared this week.

The resident pair of Grebes are doing well, still only one seems to like being on the water.

This baby is growing quite well, there again is is swimming all the time whilst the other babies seem quite content to ride round on mothers back.
I saw mum trying to tip the other babies off but they clung on, so she gave up, but she will be glad to get rid of them so she can go fishing herself instead of relying on her male to feed her.

My baby Goldfinches are doing well and feeding themselves.

Today our visit to Pear Mill Café was strangely quiet, perhaps with the Manchester kids off school the families are all away on holiday, though Stockport kids are still in school I'm told.
After our meal we stopped off round the back to see if we could see the baby Peregrine Falcons, and there they were, three babies!.
Only one visible at first.

Then the others appeared, so you can plainly see the three, next time when they are getting ready to fledge might be able to get them in line!.

Still my favourite picture this week, this cheeky Squirrel with a Raspberry.

Have a visit to Debdale and see if you can spot all these birds.

Over the Jubilee festival. 2-5.6 22.

We had a nice time over the holidays, but lets face it it's one long holiday for us once retired.

Between watching the festivities on the TV, we were over in the park and on the Ressers.

I had thought that the Great crested Grebe nest had been abandoned, but no!, they had moved under the bushes further along.

There they are, with 4 babes on mums back that I could see.

Family outing with dad.

Dad feeding mum as she can't dive for fish with the babies on her back.

Here is a better picture I took a few years ago at Reddish Vale park

Its a wonder the babies don't choke isn't it.

Plenty of Coot babies about at this time of year.

This nest full of younger Coots.

Meanwhile in the Debdale Nature Garden it was very busy with people bringing their own picnics, but still managed to get a few photos.

This Robin appreciated the mealworms we had brought, must be something they like in them, to me they just look like empty shells.

A Coal Tit.

Blue Tit enjoying the new feeder.

Great Tit.

Form an orderly queue.

Someone had left a couple of Raspberries on the feeding station and this Squirrel found them.

In the park itself this Blackbird found a nice big juicy worm for the kids tea.

Back home it was a wet Sunday so we stayed in all day and watched the Jubilee Parade which I really enjoyed and who ever came up with the idea of the buses was brilliant!.

Staying in had a bonus too, as I noticed for the first time the Goldfinches had had babies and they are all eating for themselves so must be a few days old.

As you can see its still raining in these pictures.

This one must think its a Dunnock, feeding off the floor, will soon learn if the cats see it.

Think this one is Dad.

Bet she's thinking, "thank goodness the kids are feeding themselves now!".

The Clematis "Josephine" in my garden is looking good again this year.

This is one I planted last year, looking really good now its established.

Like it?, this is the name of this one.

So a nice holiday, didn't watch much of the Saturday night concert I must admit, must be my age with these modern singers!.
