Bank Holiday August 2015.

Bank Holiday August 2015.
As per usual the August Bank holiday was wet and damp.
Still got in a few walks with Pepe round the lake and  Park.
Spotted these two young men that had just caught a nice big carp.

Turned out to be 10.5 lbs in weight
Nice to meet a couple of nice young men, got out of the car that morning and discovered a dozen or so of those miniature silver containers, I was told by one person that they were for air guns, but then another person said they were used by youngsters to get high!!, what a sad world we are becoming that some youngsters have to resort to that kind of thing these days!.

On the Saturday there was a Family Fun Day for the Pre school children run by the volunteer rangers, one of which told me that the council wanted £20 for the use of the field, What do we get for our Rates then??.

Insect box made by the Young Rangers group.

And a bigger version!.

This little fellow couldn't find a bigger stick could he!.

Plenty of people dodging the showers, it made the blinds at the Cafe look very inviting!.
Not many sailing on the lake.

There I was thinking that Starling speckled feathers was so you couldn't see them in the trees, nearly missed this one set against the flagstones in Hyde Market right under my seat!.

Out and about, Mate Bob sent me this good picture in his garden Mr Fox dining out with Mr Hedgehog the other night.

On Sunday Son John gave me this great boat he had scratchbuilt a couple of years ago, sell it and give the money to a charity he said!, sold it and now just have to find a charity to help with their good works, Thanks John!!.

On the plant front, got another nice flower on my Hoya Cardosa, (Wax Plant) the only trouble is they only last a few days, still I have got it flowering!.

If God wanted us to go metric, surely he would have appointed ten apostles!.

Adam was the only married man not to have a Mother- in-law, and he lived in paradise!.

There was this fellow that gave his wife a complete mink outfit!, a 12 bore shotgun and some traps!

We were so poor that when the wolf came to the door we ate it!.

Its the way I tell em.

That's all for now folks.

First week in March 2015

First week in March 2015.
Went to the lake on Saturday, though I didn't stay long with the weather!, managed to get a few Duckie pictures before it got too cold though.

Male Mandarins

Female Mandarin.

Mr & Mrs.

Coot

Met one of my friends Lawrence there and sat in his big beautiful Volvo, very nice!.

Then tried out the Colour filters in the car park .

Yellow Filter

Blue filter

Blue again

Last one the Red.

The previous week had to take the car in for its MOT passed alright but tyres were only just in the limit!.
Whilst there, their lovely whippet remembered me as the one who had given her treats before and I only go once a year, not daft are they.

Had all the tyres changed today, can't be too careful in this icy weather can you!.
Direct Tyres in Stockport, opposite Aldi, good service and in and out in about 20 minutes, then on to the lake for lunch!.

Bargain of the week, is this new coat, how much do you say, you won't believe it £5 at the charity shop, still had the original labels on!

From the previous post, the squirrel with the missing ear, finally got it painted up and clear lacquered, just like new now, previous bargain of the week!.

Finally here is one of Pepe's friends at the Lake's Breakfast Club, a nice little Pomeranian.

Son John sent me a link to the 10 most vicious dogs the other day and Pepe (Chihuahua) was top of the list!!!.
Not a vicious bone in his body.

"Vicious!, don't make me laugh", says Pepe

Off to the Ellesmere Model boat show next week with Barmouth Bob!, hope to get some good pictures between us, Pepe spending the day with his Auntie Joyce, plenty of fussing there then!.

...................................................................................

Instead of a joke today have a look at this Video Bob found on Youtube, I'm sure you will like it!.
Australian magpie playing with Dog!.

Today at the lake.

Today at the lake Jan 8th 2014

Whilst at the lake today.
After a bit of lunch in the Cafe it was off to the landing stage to see what boats were sailing and found this nice scratchbuilt Narra Boat and as you will have noticed from earlier post's I'm rather taken with Narra Boats

Also whilst putting Pepe back  in the car I was approached by this old Couple who said they had spoken to me at the Dog's Trust in Denton, on the Open Day there, it's the Hat you know!.
Anyway they had this beautiful young little Jack Russell dog not much bigger than Pepe, and it was very friendly with everyone and after I'd given it a chewy stick, I was it's friend for life I think.

Teeth like a baby crocodile, but only because of the chewy stick I'd given it, the couple said they hadn't had a minute's trouble with it since they took it home, so another success story for the Trust!

Whilst on the Net I saw this video of the worlds largest container ship that has just arrived in this country this week, can they get any bigger!!

................................................................................................

Paddy took his crocodile into the pub and said "Do you serve Catholics?".
The Barman said he did
"Well Oi'l have a pint of Guinness, and two Catholics for my Crocodile!"

"I will go to the end of the world for you" he said.
"Yes but will you stay there, she yawned!.

That's it for now folks!.

Nearing Christmas 2014.

Nearing Christmas 2014.

Been out and about with my lady friend Marjorie mostly to our favourite haunt Hyde Shopping Mall and all the shops in there, there is also a nice cafe there "The Rendezvous Cafe" where the staff are very friendly and the food is very good, and the place is nice and clean, there's a nice clean set of toilets upstairs too. Have seen a number of friends there too so we are not on our own with our views of the place.

The decorations in the Mall are really nice and this past week there has been a local school singing there, better than classes I suppose but it was for charity so they are learning something there hey!

Saturday Night, Marjorie and I went to the Ashton Chapel to see and hear the Carol Service there and the theme this year was the centenary of WW1 and between the choir singing there were clips from a video, also the video from the LDS church on the meaning of Christmas "He is the Gift" ie it's not all about shopping and tinsel.

Sunday saw me out doing a bit of shopping for dessert for after Sunday dinner at Son John's where there were a couple of missionaries dining that we had sat and chatted to the previous evening.
Pepe was a hit with this missionary has he had one at home in Utah, though not as hairy as Pepe!
Pepe in very good and let's everyone pet and stroke him, not that he gives them much choice in the matter, he's on their knee before they know it.

Relaxed waiting for the doggie bag he always get's to take home.

On the way to John's called at Aston Park Garden Centre to get some filter stuff for the fish tank and they have the usual Christmas decorations everywhere, nice for the children isn't it.
An animated singing Snowman, roll on the spring and all the plants are out again, still so as not to appear a Scrooge there are some good things for Christmas, ie parties, shows and these little fellows!.

Great picture taken by my mate Bob, on an earlier visit to Etherow Park, which is our favourite place.

And just to show he is good at other things too, a picture of his current building project!, that's five feet long and 18 inches wide, a lot of  boat!.

Well that's it for now, might get another post in before Christmas, but if not I will leave you with my picture of a Robin and my Best Wishes for a, well the picture say's it all doesn't it.

Its illegal to make liquor privately, and to make water publicly.

"This pen leaks", said the prisoner as the rain came in through the roof .

He got a letter from his wife, "Fred I missed you yesterday, Come home and let me have another shot"
Gladys.

He was so lazy he had his window box concrete over.

That's all folk's

Dogs Trust Manchester 2014

At the weekend (Sunday) I went to the Christmas Fayre at the local Dogs Trust, just to give them some support not to get another hound!, one hairy critter is enough!.

View at the entrance

Inside

Up the stairs to the Cafe

In the cafe and then through the door on to the veranda viewing platform.

Outside in the training and play area.

Just hope their new home is as nice and carefree as this!, sadly some will not be once the novelty wears off.

Relaxed even though there were hundreds of people there

Saw this poster in a magazine whist having a drink in the Cafe, hopefully Pepe thinks so!.

Bought Pepe an early Christmas present.
You can see the idea, twist the wheels and dials to get at the treats, I know they can smell them, but the idea was to figure out how to get the treats out!.
It was a total waste of money, He was getting the treats out faster than I could put them in, then started to chew the wood as well, don't think John's dogs would be any better, they would just shake them out I suppose.
Still it was nice to see all the dogs and I was surprised to see a lot of people I knew there, even though I didn't have Pepe with me "The Hat" gives me away.

Today went to the Lake and you can see the wild and windy time I had there.

Sat in the car and had lunch, too cold to sit outside with Pepe. still on track with my Cholestrol as long as I don't eat anything until a week on Friday!.

On the dog theme, if you want to get your dog a christmas pressie try here.
One of our friends daughters!.

....................................................................................................

The henpecked husband reached the end of his tether  and said "I'm leaving you and going off to join the foreign legion"
"Well don't come back traipsing sand through the house she said!"

Two husbands leaning on the bar.
"Did you give your wife a lecture on economy like I told you?.
"Yes I certainly did"
"And what was the result?.
"I've got to give up smoking!.

Thats all folks
