Past week at Reddish Vale, 1.6.2018.

Down at the Vale this past week, we saw a few Canadian geese chicks, very cute, but their own worse enemy as the herons and other predators were there also!.

OMG , do you mean me?,

You've hurt my feelings now I'm off with my mate, that's us that he's just caught.

Only two left at the moment.

The AAHHH factor.

A few more round the other side of the lake.

Proud parents.

Quite a few Baby Coots about too.

A Chinese Swan Goose.

The usual Terror-pins basking in the sunshine

My best of the week was this Jay which I think is a young one!.

Last, but not least there was the last Swan standing from last years brood, perhaps he/she will get a mate next year.

Whilst having lunch at the tearooms was able too watch the Farrier shoeing horses at the riding schools

Might be of interest to some of you!

Seem to have a family of young Starling on my bird feeder, must be the Fleetwood Fat Balls and seed I'm giving them!.

My white pigeon on the feeder at home, dangerous colour for a pigeon, there again it didn't have much choice did it

The moon over Gorton, not too bad for  hand held picture, will have to get my new (to me) tripod out next time to see if I can get it any better.
My camera is a Nikon P900 for those amongst you that like to know!.

Today at Daisy Nook Country Park, 6.1.2017

Today, whilst quite sunny at Daisy Nook Country Park, it was freezing cold and after the usual Bacon and sausage muffin, set off round the park carrying Pepe has the mud would have been up to his armpits.
For my birthday my son and daughter in law, had bought me one of these,

So off we went with this on my wrist, though it hadn't been set up very well.
I was surprised to see later that I had done over 5,000 steps, though I only went as far as I usually do to find some wildlife to snap!.

Today was lucky enough to see three pair of Goosanders on the fishing lake.
This is a  male,

Females, more colourful, which is unusual as the males are usually the ones with more colour aren't they, there again perhaps others think the males are best, perhaps its my liking of ginger birds, my first girlfriend was ginger haired.
Why do guys call girls Birds?, is it because they are always picking up worms?.

The national bird.

Is he still there with his camera?.

Longtailed Tits, synchronised feeding?.

Such delicate little things aren't they.

So small to cope with this weather!.
Me and my Shadow.

Chaffinches.

Blackbird, need to be a big pie to get four and twenty of these into it!, (English poem)

Never seen one of these nuthatches until this last year and now they seem quite common.

So with hands, frozen it was back to the Cafe and noticed they had hot soup, potato & leek with a roll, so thought that was just the job to warm me up.
Nicely presented too, loverly jubberly as Mr Larkin used to say.

Nice meeting place at the Park Cafe for walkers, runners and Dog owners, all welcomed with nice hot food and  friendly staff what more could you want on a freezing cold day!.

On the way to the car saw these common but beautiful birds

So off home with a nice doggy bag for Pepe's dinner.
Then realised friends Bob and Joyce should be over the worse of their colds and sniffles so called in there, I think they like to see Pepe on a regular basis.
Glad to see they were on the mend and there was a friend from the boat club picking up some of Bob's items he had advertised on my other Blog, the Model Boat Club website.
So all in all another good day, sunny but cold though getting lighter now thank goodness!.

1st July 2017.

Plenty at the lake today, not many at the Lakeside Cafe though, most people I've spoken to that have been in there perhaps for the first time since the renovations don't seem to like the decor or the prices and what you get for your money!.
Still one persons downfall is another persons lift and the Garden Centre Cafe and Buttie wagon seem to be collecting a lot more customers, that's what its needed isn't it a little competition!.
Didn't stay long today as my hay fever has been playing havoc the past couple of weeks with the pollen count going though the roof!.

Managed to get you a couple of snaps with my small camera, couldn't be bothered to go back to the car for my bigger one.

A nice small Great Crested Grebe that seems to have taken up residence on the big lake,

A nice handsome bird so perhaps a mate will come along soon

Also on the big lake these baby Coots doing well.

Two of the four, new juvenile swans that have arrived from somewhere, no rings on their legs so could be from anywhere!.

Yesterday went to my local carvery, 'The Windmill', Denton.
They have this novel water tub outside for the dogs, I asked if they were so concerned about dogs what was their policy on letting dogs inside, as I couldn't go last week with the weather being so hot, I couldn't leave Pepe in the car, they said 'you are welcome to bring him into the Vault and eat your dinner in there'!, so that's not too bad, not that we get it too hot much in this town!.

Nice dinners though and as much as you can get on your plate for £5.25!

Well that's it for today.

The only exercise she get's is jumping to conclusions!.

If swimming is good for your shape, why do whales look like they do?.

The only reason I would take up jogging is so that I could hear heavy breathing again!.
