Sunny day down the Vale,17.10,2019.

Beautiful sunny day down the Vale today, quite warm and after adding two new Metal Bird feeders in the Community Garden, whipped down to Pear Mill for lunch with friends Jean and Peter G.

Seemed to be a hit with the locals
Blue Tit.

Great Tit.

Need to be all metal there, as there are lots of squirrels about

Pear Mill for lunch, here are some details for you.

Nice to have a browse round all the stalls before you eat in the nice cafe which is all decked out in olddie worldie tables and chairs!

All tables have fresh flowers and all the old games before computers.
The display cabinets in the Cafe and all the items round the window sills belong to the cafe owners and you can buy from them rather than at the main desk on the way out for items in the main hall.

I bought this fish the other day and put my small change in it in the hall for Charities.
Not everything there are dear, lots of small items for a few quid.

Today's Cruets came in the form of Meerkats!, always some thing different!.
Peter G even had a Mallard duck teapot today.

Pepe loves it there, as there is always a plate of boiled ham for the three dogs and a water bowl.

So three people , three dogs and not a crumb on the floor, the table to the side of us, one adult and one small child and the floor was a right mess, and some Cafes don't allow Dogs!!.

So after the others went home Pepe and I went back to the Vale as it was too nice to waste the sunshine.
This is the resident Chinese Swan Goose. his quack is worse than his bite and can be hand fed.

A couple of Crows, names Russell and Cheryl what else.

Pepe all trimmed and washed the day before, sat on friend Mary's bench, he sits there very good and patient whilst I tried to snap the Goldcrest's today.

Nice flowers on friend Jill's mother's bench.

So it was homeward bound and had to stop at the top of the hill to take this picture as it was so nice and sunny and that was at 1545hrs!

Autumn is here will have to get the jumpers out now, getting cool.

What's worse than finding a maggot in your apple,
finding half of one!.

Why is there a light in the fridge and not in the freezer?.

If your born again do you end up with two belly buttons?.

Debdale Lower Reservoir, Yesterday, 20,5,2019.

Had a walk round Debdale Reservoir yesterday, first time for a long time, but enjoyed it, the weather makes all the difference though doesn't it!.
i

There was a Greater Crested Grebe with two babies

This one kept shooing the other one away, wanted all the food available no doubt

The babies are quite big, the Grebes at Reddish Vale haven't got any yet!.

Babies have unusual markings when they are young, perhaps as camouflage from predators.

The Canada Geese Goslings were very cute too

Got to eat your Greens

Coot having a stretch in the sun.

Magpies courting in the grass.

..................................................
Today we went to Reddish Vale and had lunch at the tearooms and watched the Swallows again in and out of the stables.
Very streamlined.

Managed to get a poor picture of one of the Swallows and its nest inside the stables, quite hard with it being in the shade and quite sunny outside!

The sparrows having a ball collecting the Fibre linings from the hanging baskets on the stable walls

The bee's were busy on the flowers in the Community Garden too

Got a picture from my mate Bob today from our visit to the Model Boat Show on Sunday!.

The venue is still in the process of being done up.

This chap has been modelling this model Bismark for 3 years now and still got a few years work to go yet but what a project, indefinitely a labour of love!.
Everything from the deck up is made of metal.

That's it for another day folks!.

Early May Bank Holiday weekend, 2019.

Not a bad weekend as bank holidays go, spent most of it down in Reddish Vale taking photographs and chatting to friends down there.
This is a lady Great Crested Grebe sat on her nest for a few days now.

Put a coconut shell up with suet and seeds in, the birds loved it, didn't last long.

" Clear off its all mine"

"I'm off its getting too crowded "

Some people say they are Vermin, but they are cute with it aren't they!.

At least two eggs in there.

The male is being very good and sitting with her, when he's not defending their territory.

The Herons are on the prowl looking for unattended babies.

After my having Goldfinches in my garden for the first time ever!.
decided to add a niger feeder to the trees in the Community garden at the vale and to my surprise after only putting it up on the Thursday by Saturday there were Six goldies on and around it!.

Such lovely birds and so colourful!.

Great Tit.

Blue Tit.

Ohh Sh*t.

A couple of Grey Wagtails today.

An unusual visitor a Common Sandpiper, not a good photo but it wasn't stopping hunting for his dinner.

Today, Wednesday the 8th , it was drizzling all morning but wrapped up myself and Pepe, we had a quick walk round the lakes and were rewarded with finding this Couple of Canadian Geese with their six babies,

Mandarin Duck, four on the lake today.

Female and Male Chaffinch.

That's it for another wet day!,
Perhaps better tomorrow, always look on the bright side!.

Did you hear of the cowboy dressed in brown paper/
He was arrested for rustling.

Did you hear about the cannibal who went on a diet?
He only ate midgets!.
