Over the weekend

We all went to my Granddaughters 18th birthday party on Friday and what a good turn out it was.
plenty to eat
plenty of sweets
And of course the music
Thats where my hearing aids come in handy, I can turn them off when it gets too loud!
Birthday girl and younger sister.
Not forgetting the PC boy wonder!

I managed to buy two tables same as the ones at the boat club on the Friday morning at Cosco where a friend  had a card.

Then it was on to Saturday, too cold and wet to go sailing, the cafe would still have been shut anyway.
So John came round and helped me dismantle a wardrobe and set of drawers, we were fortunate to give them to a good cause, someone setting up home, always like to find a good home instead of the tip!
Then I found out I'd not painted behind the wardrobe last time!! so it was a quick dash to B&Q with fingers crossed that they could match the colour, I had the numbers so I was in luck!.
I painted the wall on Sunday before going to John's for Sunday dinner and here is the results of our labours.
The offending wall with nice dog picture added, we like our dogs, that's a camping table from years back.
Ritalea and Paula 3 (club boat).
Window wall
Fiesta, Bantock Ragtime One metre, Aziz and Wyeforce tug
And back wall with present project Narra Boat hull in front, Comtessa, Micro Magic and that's the two new tables!.

Nice hey? got to keep up standards haven't we.

I love long walks in the  woods, riding in your  truck, hunting, camping and  fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the  fire. Candlelight dinners  will have me eating out of your hand.

Lights

With Christmas fast approaching I was reminded of my first look into lights for my boats!
I found that garden centres with their vast array of Christmas lights at this time of year had lots of LED lights and found a packet of 20 coloured lights with a switched battery box to hold two AA batteries all for £1.99!
Ritalea boat built by Bob Abell!

So this was my first project all 20 lights round the canopy, and the battery box was painted to look like a picnic box in the bottom of the boat.

Unfortunately times have moved on and these lights went up in price to £2.99 the following year, but not to be disheartened with this price increase I then lit up my next project with a string of 30 lights! on my "AZIZ" , good job I'd got a stock of lights in at the old price after Christmas, It was just a case of attaching an extra 10  lights on to the 20 in the packet and they still last long enough for a sail on the two AA's

My next venture into lighting comes with my Narra Boat, and having found that my other lights don't show up very well on the water I decided to avail myself of John's knowledge of electric's and use bigger LED's but my brain couldn't work out the resistors to use for this! so after John's input I started
So it was started by soldering on the resistors, covering the LED's with plastic tube and then inserting three into a housing for them.
Making up a small unit to house the lights
connecting to a battery box, nice and bright hey!
And there you have it, painted up and bright enough to see in daylight, not much dearer than the garden centre ones and with rechargeable batteries no problem.
Well I hope you find this of interest and look out for bargains after Christmas.

Must get on and finish that superstructure of the Narra Boat needs sanding sealer and painting.

Donations

Don't panic, you've already given them!
I received this nice letter from St Ann's Hospice the other day and after I'd said I'd been there last Tuesday  with the donations from the people at Velda's funeral service,I thought it was only right that you shared in the thanks from St Ann's.

So now you know how your money is spent, I've done years of volunteering work for Donkeys and Guide dogs, but I think this is a better way in my mind to help People, rather than Animals, so that's my goal in future
There is a St Ann's charity shop in Romiley if you are passing and anything you don't want or need will be gratefully received by them!.

Aziz and Coaster.wmv

Yesterday John and I went to the lake at Etherow and had the lake to ourselves, as you will see from the accompanying video it was a nice sunny day and quite warm for the time of the year.

At dinner time we packed up our boats and as the cafe was still closed we drove round to "The George" and had a nice Bacon, sausage and egg baguette, the only trouble was they had run out of bacon so we got sausage, two eggs to make up for that, side salad and various condiments too.
So suitabelly filled up with grub, we went back to the lake to find another couple of members had turned up, so after a chat we went round the big lake with Pepe and chatted and watched the real yachts that had a competition on.
A good day was had by all and going our separate ways I did my shopping on the way home.

I went to a travel agent and asked where I could go for £50, He told me!

She was on the phone from the Riviera."The holiday is wonderful darling, I feel like a new woman".
"So do I. Stay there another week"

Keeping busy

Last couple of weeks I've been helping John out with his back log of work!
We have done jobs in Manchester South ward,Stockport ward,Ashton ward and Middleton ward.
Stockport Ward

Inside Stockport

Ashton Ward
Nice clean jobs and out of the cold!
Then yesterday it was up to Dobcross to finish a gazebo John had started earlier
Built over a swimming pool.

Who said John was scared of heights

Notice Pepe guarding the tools!

That pool doesn't look big but it's like a trendmill.
That's a hot tub at the side so very tricky to get round the roof for the shingles.

In case anyone out there is worried about me eating how about this!

Frozen meal from Asda only £1

And then Jam Roly Poly for after's also from Asda.

Doctor from St Ann's when she asked me if I was eating alright and I said only frozen dinners said "There's nothing wrong with frozen dinners, I live on them" so that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
John and Jo's Sunday dinners are good though!

Out and about

In my last blog I said I hoped the guys on the coach trip to Warwick had had a good day, I needn't have give it a thought, as you can see from my mate Bob's report all went well.
To-day I went to St Ann's Hospice to take the monies raised from the donations at the funeral and handed over £215 to them, there is more to add to that by people who have sent donations in direct to the hospice, so I was quite happy with that though the visit there brought a lump to my throat, still it had to be done sooner or later.
Then it was over to Romiley to St Ann's Charity shop with some stuff which was gratefully received!

Further over again it was on to the Lake to see some of the members there and a bite to eat, plenty of members there sailing their "J" class yacht's, but nothing to eat!!

Please note the cafe is closed for refurbishment until 28th November, I said in my last blog the food wasn't up to scratch but I didn't think they had heard me!
So in case you are hungry next time you go to the lake remember the Post Office do nice sandwiches and cups of Tea and Coffee, tea only 70p!!
Then there is "The George" round the corner as stated in the last blog, but not tried it out yet, perhaps next time, will let you know.

"When I see your father coming up the front path",she said to her husband, "I sometimes wish I'd loved and lost".

Modern fashions are crazy. fish-net stockings and forcing feet into those high heels is ridiculous!.
I've told my father to stop wearing them!

She told her banker; I haven't got much collateral, but will you take one of those promiscuity notes?"

Getting back to normality

To-day went to the lake and met John and granddaughter Ruth there!
John has joined on my Family membership and is going to come every Saturday after dropping the two older children off at their Saturday jobs.
My coaster has gone on Lease to a new captain (John) and after trying a yacht with wind, (there was non to-day) he might take over the Captaincy of my Comtessa, so he has the best of both worlds to play with.
New Captains
Concentration !

Still in the family line

New captain even extended the rudder before he came, has I'd explained to him it was too short, works great now, you can just see it white.
I've taken over the captaincy of Velda's favourite boat "Wyeforce" and the "Aziz" again so it was all changing the programs of the  two trannies yesterday, not done that for a bit, funny how you soon forget isn't it or is it just my age do you think??
I went to the George pub on the way home to see what the meals were like as the park cafe seems to have gone off a bit whilst we've been away.
The George has changed hands about 6-8 weeks ago, they still do meals though only 12-00 til 2-30pm, and best of all they still have dogs, not on the menu I hasten to add, see the menu and prices below.
They haven't even got menu's yet, so it was out with my trusty digital and snapped it.

So there you go a very good sunny day at the lake with good company, but no wind even for my Micromagic yacht.
Pepe had his walk round the lake as well!
Hope the guys on the coach trip had as good a day!

BC then AD now AV

Perhaps your wondering if I've finally flipped my lid with the title,  well its this to me,
BC=before Christ.
AD= from the birth of Christ.
AV = after Velda.
I took the Ozzie's to the station on Saturday, they were going to Birmingham and then hire car-ing to Nottingham where Bryan comes from then back to Birmingham to fly home to OZ ( When ??)
Whilst I wanted to be quiet at home Babs and Bryan made me get out and about, I took them first to the  MCFC tour as they are both footie mad, I'm not,  but found the tour very interesting with all the silly money involved these days.
Chairmans seat and Babs in Chief Exe's

Hot off the press

Home team changing room.

Then next day it was a trip to Manchester city Centre where Babs hadn't been for years, neither had I since I've retired, so it was all new to the three of us!
We just had to go on the big wheel so I could take some pictures for my mate Bob!
High init!!

Higher still from up here!!

Brick tower in the distance is Strangways prison

Manchester Cathedral

Better stop now, I've got loads more but its boring to others isn't it.

We three went to numerous meals out with Son John's family and this is my two beautiful granddaughters at Frankie and Benny's restaurant
Rachel and Ruth

Then we had a day in Stockport so I could go to the bank, Babs thought it was quite quaint,

And the old mixed in with the new they both liked

The Police in the foreground don't look too happy do they?

So all in all I was kept busy leading up to and after the funeral, I've been helping John at his work a couple of days and Pepe loves it as he runs up and down the corridors all day, you didn't think I'd leave him at home all day did you!.

Stockport Chapel
Barks like mad if anyone comes to the door here as well as home.

What do you think of the new title at the top of the blog, will allow me to be a bit more general with this blog.

Took my boat "AZIZ" to the club model judging last night, finished last year but never shown, so as I'm throwing myself into everything at the moment to keep from fretting I thought I would show it this year, Will let you know how I went on, with 30 lights on it people must have thought I'd brought a Christmas tree.

Procrastination is the thief of time, especially if you can't spell it.

The woman was booking a holiday for her husband.
The travel agent asked if she had any destination in mind.
"Anywhere in the Bermuda Triangle", she said.
